My DH is slightly color-blind, like he always fails those red-green tests at the eye doctor. It's interferred with him getting his private pilot's license, like he's not allowed to fly at night and stuff. But it hasn't really affected him otherwise.

My first husband was...when we started fighting I used to screw up his clothes on purpose and make him look like an ass.

Hmm Im hoping to get a little first hand knowledge from a mom (or dad) whos son is color blind. i'd like to know how a parent figures it out and how old the child was. I think Cory is color blind. I've thought so for some time but lately hes missing more and more colors. Today alone we had three different times when he mixed up colors and he thought he was right. I found some of those color charts for him to look at and there are a few of them he couldn't see so Im going to make him a 8 year well child exam since our clinic does them and I'll have them test his vision.

That's how my parents figured it out with my brother. He saw a doc about it at a pretty young age.

My hubby is and never knew it until he joined the Navy. However, he is an electrician in the civilian world (go figure) and his instructors knew that he was, but they said that it was because of the way he would do things. I thought that it was kind of weird that they never told him or asked about it until after the fact. I had a friend that was color blind so bad that the only color he could see was yellow. He found out by going to a doctor. Good luck!

My husband is colorblind. It comes from the mother's father. If he is color blind, then the son will inherit it.

Also some women can inherit it too, but it's not so common

My dad and cousin are red/green color blind. I have a great uncle who is pastel color blind.

It's a male dominated trait, passed on through the mother. So since my dad was color blind, there was a good chance my child (had I had a boy) would have been color blind as well.

Well, I have no clue if my father was color blind or not. I'll ask my sister maybe she'll know. Its not a big deal if he is or not I think its important to know though.

My husband is. He says they will give you a little booklet with dots that have numbers or letters in them and if he cant see the letters or numbers than he is color blind.
