My husband came home for his R&R from his deployment recently. Of course we were sexually active. But I'm on the patch and I do not want kids in the next 10 years of my life. Anyway, he was home for 2 weeks. I started my period (or what I figured to be my period) the day after he left. That was 10 days ago. I'm still bleeding. I usually only have periods that last 3 days. Is this normal?? I'm having a lot of abdominal pain. Tricare won't let me see a doctor for another week (the base is too big for them to care for everyone). I was told by a friend that it could be a miscarriage. Can you miscarry after being 1-3 weeks pregnant? Is that even possible? I'm so clueless.

Well how long have you been on the patch? It could be breakthrough bleeding if you haven't been on it that long.
If your period has been heavier than usual, you have more cramping, ect. it could very well be an early miscarriage.

I guess you won't really know for sure until you go to the doctor...sorry, I wish I could be more help.

It absolutely CAN be a miscarriage. That happened to me. 12 days of HEAVY bleeding. I would go have it checked out, definitely. I would even go to the ER since you're having abdominal pain and that much bleeding.

No, you shouldn't have heavy bleeding and abdominal pain just from sex...a little spotting, maybe, but not heavy bleeding.

I'd go to the ER and get it checked out. :dunno just my opinion. I don't think you'd have all that pain and extra bleeding from sex. At least it will let you know what happened too.

I never used the patch, just the nuvaring but I noticed I had really heavy, clotty periods like every few months, like it'd been building up. After I was off it for a while I had a miscarriage at about 9 weeks and it was very heavy clotty bleeding, it lasted about 7 days. And worst cramps EVER. The doctor had to give me percaset for it. I would try to go to the ER if they can't get you into the doctor, you shouldn't be bleeding heavy for that long.

It could be a miscarriage, you'd be surprised how common it is, many women miscarry and don't even know it. Sometimes things just don't go right and the body just gets rid of it.
