Rosie O'Donnell Says She Won't Host Price
MONDAY JUNE 25, 2007 09:05 AM EDT

Despite a "nice lunch" with producers last week, Rosie O'Donnell says she won't replace Bob Barker as host of The Price is Right.

In a video posted late Sunday on her Web site, O'Donnell responds to a fan's e-mail asking: "Why is it such a problem that The Price Is Right shoots in L.A? A lot of people move their families because of a new job."

As a stylist takes a curling iron to her hair, O'Donnell says to the camera: "Here's the thing. I don't really need a job. I'm in a weird position. I don't need the money.

"I know you're not allowed to talk about money in America," she continues, "But I'm just saying I don't. So to get my entire family uprooted from their lives and move them across the country so that I can have a fantasy childhood indulgence job just doesn't seem fair."

O'Donnell, 45, and wife Kelli, 40, live outside New York City with sons Parker, 12, and Blake, 7, and daughters Chelsea, 9, and Vivi, 4.

"They all are in school, they have friends, we love their school, we love our community, our house, our life, our home," O'Donnell says in her video. "If they were able to do it in New York it would be a different story. But it looks like it ain't gonna happen."

Early last week, O'Donnell told fans on her Web site of taking the Price Is Right job: "if they asked me i sure would." But she later backed off, admitting in a video post: "I don't know if it's gonna work out. ... I just think it's a part of American nostalgia, and it's what America needs right now. It would be good for me, but I don't know if it's right for them."

Thank Goodness!:tu:D

I think that is a really wise decision for her. While I think she could be fun hosting that show like she was fun on her own talk show back in the day, it would not be fair to move her whole family for it.

Im glad she is not hosting it, for my own reasons. But I think not uprooting her children like that because they dont need the money, was probably th only she has ever said that I will like.

Good! Her reasons are good ones I have to admit. Probably the only thing she's ever said that I would agree with.
