When did you begin potty training your child?! Ethan will be 2 in September. I planned to begin the potty training phase when we get settled in VA next month or in August. I might have to first complete the toddler bed transition before working on the potty training, but am still unsure about what to do.
I think I need to buy books because I don't even know where to begin with potty training a boy. Do I sit him on the seat? Do I got a little step-stool for him to stand on and aim? Do you wipe your son when he goes #1?!
Gosh all the questions..LMAO!!!
I can still remember that my lil brother was like FIVE and still wiped himself when he went pee. My dad put a stop to that quick...HAHAHA!!!!!

Hey

My DS will be 3 in July and not potty trained yet. He knows when he goes #1 and #2 he knows how to use sitting and standing but will he do it ...NO!:vent
there are signs to look for. if you go to babycenter.com they have a list of tips and such to help you along. All i can say is to stay positive and Just keep asking:dunno...it will feel like yuou havbe asked 500 times in an housr but thats ok. I bet some other mothers on here have better ideas. I have also heard that there is a book called "Potty Trainin a Day". its supposed to work i have hear of it working for little boys very well. i know one mother that has traind all of her kids (5) using this method and it working!!

Good luck!!:hehe

I started Aaron at 2 but now hes almost 3 and still isn't fully yet but we are working on it. Aaron sits, we got him a seat with a pee shield on it and he does have a stool so that he can get up there...I hope to have him out of diapers by the time hes 3

My nephew is 2 and a half and just started using the potty. My sister sits him on it, and has him flick it when hes done...LOL!! She said when hes more used to using the potty she will have him stand up to do it, but she wants him to get used to going first!

My son was 1 and a half. There was NO WAY I was gonna let him go past 2 or 2 and a half. NO WAY! When my kid can ASK me to change him that is WAY to far.
Didnt wipe him, just taught him the "shake it off" method :lol And of course when he went #2 he would have to wipe. He had a step stool and his own potty right next to the toliet incase I wasnt there to help him balance on the stool.

I know everyone feels differently on the subject but I'm letting Val control it. She sits on the potty, but she's not consistent. I'd rather her feel in control, I think she'll be more successful that way. For a boy, I have no idea! Good luck!

I just wanted to say that when I had the kids to the Dr this last time their was a thing on the wall about potty training classes for parents. If anyone is interested call the Dr's office(military hospital) to see if they offer it. FYI :)

I'm going to be waiting until Wade shows more signs of readiness. Many boys don't train until they're well over 3. We do have a little potty and when he needs to go I'll ask if he wants to sit on it. He'll go #2 in it but not #1 (I know, that's backwards from most kids). He just doesn't realize yet when he has to go #1. So I'm following his lead. If you wait until they're ready you can PT in a couple of days, but if you go too quick it can take months.

Plus, my daycare has a rule that if you're PT'ing, there are no diapers or pull-ups allowed, only underwear. Wade is definitely not ready for that yet!
