at what age do babies learn the meaning of dada and mama??

Ellie keeps looking at me saying 'dada' and i keep telling her that i am mama and dada is at work, but do you think she is just babaling or do you think she has an understanding that it means something??

I read that they CAN start saying it around 4 months or so, but whether or not they know the meaning....I have no idea

They can say it pretty early on, but they don't understand the meaning until they are closer to a year old. It differs for each child. <---At least that's what I learned in my child development classes.

She's probably saying it not actually knowing what it is.
