sometimes I put my bath mat over the lid. My kitty tries to open the lid. Its most annoying.

Keep the lid down, or don't let him in the bathroom.

I would say keep him out of the bathroom. You don't want him getting the chemicals you use to clean it ingested.

yeah, he comes in the bathroom with us when we take a shower if no one else is home because he'll get into things and bark and whine otherwise and he usually just goes to sleep. bathroom doors stay closed. it's not too often an occurrence just because we keep the lids down and doors closed.

What do you do with him when you leave the house? Do you kennel him? Maybe you should kennel him while you shower??

we aren't kenneling, he was traumatized being in his kennel prior to us getting him. he stays downstairs completely free to roam with the exception of laundry room, bathroom and coat closet

Train him not to go in there, it takes a lot of work and such at first but it works, ours are not allowed in the kitchen for any reason!
