Ok, would/can you breastfeed while you are pregnant?? what about if you continue to bf both kids after you have the 2nd???
When I worked at the daycare, there was a mom who got pregnant when her oldest was about 6 months and continued to bf as long as she could. She supplemented through most of her pregnancy, but when she had her second baby and her milk came in, she continued to bf BOTH kids :puzz is that normal?? or can it be done? I mean she seemed to be able to feed every baby in the world she had soooo much milk!

I read that nipple stimulation toward the end of a pregnancy can lead to premature labor. I wouldn't risk it personally.

Well, 'normal' is kind of an abstract concept...what's normal to one person may not be normal to another, KWIM?
Yes, some women bf two at once, and some continue to bf while they're pregnant also. You only make as much milk as your body will use (if everything is going well), so its not like she was producing any abnormal amounts of milk.
ETA I personally wouldn't bf anymore after I got pregnant...just being pregnant is enough on my body. Nor would I start bf back up after I had the baby.

you can BF throughout pregnancy but if you are prone to pre-term labor they recommend stopping after a certain week. talk to your DR. bout it though

I totally agree. I had a friend, total boob nazi get pregnant when her dd was about 1 1/2 years old. She was sooo upset she had to stop nursing. She let her daughter weaned and dryed up. Her doctor didn't want her nursing while pregnant. Then after baby was born she allowed her DD to nurse again. Its called Tandem Nursing BTW and its not such a freak occurrence. Its very common for some more pro breastfeeding families.
I wouldn't do it, but then again its just not that important to me. Add nipple sensitivity and over all grouchiness of hormones. :no

If I had gotten preggo when my dd was still young, I would have nursed throughout my pregnancy, and then tandem nursed. :)

I just dont think my body could take that. I mean it was hard enough trying to produce enough milk just for one when I wasnt even preggo! I cant imagine how many calories you would have to intake to have a healthy growing baby as well as produce enough milk to keep your older child satisfied.

I presonally do not think that I would breastfeed while pregnant nor tandem nurse(unless in the case of multiples). But then, I also have not experienced pregnancy and nursing yet, so I may change my stance on this after I have had those experiences.

I personally wouldn't do it which is why I waited until my first was done nursing to get pregnant again. One kid at a time was enough for me :lol

I would tandum if needed...my Katrina actually likes to lay with me when I nurse aidan...and once tried to latch but was rather unimpressed by my milk in comparison to her chocolate milk ;) lol
