LittleMsSunshine 07-09-2007, 03:41 AM Found this link and thought it was fun... according to their little calculator, if db and I have babies.. there's a 70% chance they'll have green eyes and 30% chance they'll have blue eyes. Cuuuuuute :)
http://museum.thetech.org/ugenetics/eyeCalc/eyecalculator.html
I'm curious to see how it fans out for those of you who already have kids... :)
Victoria 07-09-2007, 03:45 AM My son got the boring brown eyes, but are a fair bit hazel with hints of both brown and green. Blue used to be present but slowly went away when he was about a year old. :( I have brown eyes and my husband has beautiful blue eyes. :)
72.7.% chance of brown
13.6% green
13.6% blue
I did this when I was still preggo with Ethan...LOL!!!
define 07-09-2007, 03:51 AM I've seen this before, but I can't remember where. And for the life of me, I can't remember what color eyes my in-laws have. :duh
SezzySue 07-09-2007, 03:55 AM thats cool but they don't have hazel there.

world~of~mirth 07-09-2007, 09:24 AM My dad has blue, my mom brown, I have brown.

50/50 chance of blue eyed baby. Got my blue eyed baby!! Woot woot!
92.5% chance of brown eyes. I guess all of my kids will have brown eyes then... :lol
girl20racer 07-09-2007, 09:32 AM well dh has very light hazel and i have brown and DD has brown, so I guess that was easy to figure out on our part LOL
Kristen 07-09-2007, 09:37 AM 50% chance of brown (darn brown is strong! only me and my dad have brown eyes out of everyone listed, but still 50%! grr).
35% chance of blue, and 15% chance of green.
I always tell dh I want our kids to have my skin and hair and his eyes... Olive skinned, darked haired beauties with bright blue eyes would be so awesome!
Now, if I could just get pregnant, we could find out! :giggle

Kelsey 07-09-2007, 12:49 PM Well I wasn't QUITE sure on DH's parents' eye colors, but I guessed and:

Jennie 07-09-2007, 01:12 PM I have absolutely no idea what color my parents' or his parents' eyes are.
NavyChiefs_Wife 07-09-2007, 01:44 PM it says our children have a 50% chance of having brown eyes, 27.5% chance for blue and 22.5% for green. i'll say it's pretty right since my daughter has brown eyes.

i find it interesting because for my parents it said that they had a 50% chance of brown eyed kid and a 41.6% chance of a green eyed kid...super close and they got one of each! very interesting.
tifflovezyou 07-09-2007, 04:47 PM 13.6% Blue

Phuey!!!
fridayheather 07-09-2007, 04:57 PM :( I can't do it because it says that my eye color isn't a possibility. Both my parents were blue but I'm green and they say that's not possible. But if I put in that I have blue eyes, we have a 50% chance of brown eyed babies, 37.5% chance of blue and 12.5% chance of green. DD's eyes are blue so far and she's 17 months old, if they change I don't think they are going to go brown. My family has wicked strong genetics :lmao She's definitely more my side of the family in looks than DH's
mary79 07-09-2007, 05:05 PM 100% blue baby. Both my kids have blue. So I guess if we ever have a green or brown eyed baby ,I would have some explaining to do.....lol
reynswife 07-09-2007, 05:08 PM 50% brown
38.7% green
11.2% blue
Funny because 2 of my boys have blue eyes (they are almost 3 and almost 20 months) and my oldest has a cross between brown and green.:dunno
USCGBoxerMom 07-09-2007, 05:10 PM 100% blue all the way based on genes and both the girls have blue eyes.
knockouttrish 07-09-2007, 05:14 PM It says that DH and I have a 10% chance of a blue eyed child, a 90% chance of a green/hazel eyed child, and a 0% chance of having a brown eyed child.
Funny thing is that I have a hazel/green eyed child and a BROWN eyed child.
dotb182 07-09-2007, 05:24 PM My dad has blue, my mom brown, I have brown.
DH has blue (doesn't matter about his parents so much since blue is recessive).
50/50 chance of blue eyed baby. Got my blue eyed baby!! Woot woot!
Actually I've read that blue eyes aren't always recessive, and it all depends on the genes ( meaning they can actually be dominant) I have to say I agree with it just by looking at my own family. It doesn't seem to matter what color the other person eyes are if they seem to marry into my real dads side of the family their offspring will have bright blue eyes. All my cousins and I have blue eyes, even tho many of us have a parent with a brown eyes:grin:
But anyway the website said
blue 37.5
green 12.5
brown 50.0

Ooh! Ooh! *raises hand* I know this one from social anthro class!! It doesn't matter if you have brown eyes, it just means that you carry the "blue eyes" gene. When you pass your genes to your kid, it's just the luck of the draw. So say your hubby has blue eyes (bb)... all he's capable of passing on is blue eyes. And you have brown eyes (Bb), so you can pass on either brown OR blue eyes. It just depends if you pass on your dominant or recessive trait. And like I said, it's all up to chance :) (Does that make any sense?)
For the longest time I thought I was a freak of nature (or that the milkman was my dad) cause both of my parents have dark brown eyes and mine are blue. Then I realized that my grandpas on both sides have blue eyes... so both parents carry the recessive blue gene. It just doesn't show in them :)

Exactly, just like everyone in my moms family has brown eyes but my sisters and I have blue eyes from my dads family " Rodwell" eyes that what everyone calls them in his home town b/c they say they can spot one of my family memebers from a mile away by looking at their eyes
LittleMsSunshine 07-09-2007, 05:53 PM hehe... genetics are fascinating, eh?
I think that's the only science class I've ever enjoyed...
jlbecker 07-09-2007, 09:49 PM whoah!! we're 98% having green-eyed babies!! i thought we'd have more blue.
cheerkelly 07-09-2007, 09:52 PM thats cool but they don't have hazel there.
my dad and I have hazel eyes
That was the first thing I noticed! Most of my family has hazel eyes...so I don't think it would be too accurate for my family. WAH! LOL!
dannysgirl004 07-09-2007, 10:09 PM I can't do it because it tells me that since both my parents have green eyes that I can't have brown eyes.
taraw226 07-09-2007, 11:52 PM it gave me: 37.5% blue; 12.5% green; 50% brown
our oldest daughter has blue eyes and our youngest has brown :D
MontanaSweetie 07-10-2007, 12:07 AM It said 50% chance of brown eyes, 30% chance of green eyes, and 20% chance of blue eyes.
Our son has blue eyes...I guess the 20% chance won! :D
luvmycs2cti 07-10-2007, 01:10 AM It says there is a
37.5% for blue
12.5% for green 50% for Brown...
