View Full Version : What is your blood type??

What's your blood type?

I'm AB+... which only 3% of the US population is! :) I'm a universal recipient of blood (which means I can receive any of the blood types). But I can't really donate blood. :( Because only AB people can receive AB blood... so it's kinda pointless for me to donate, because only other AB people can use my blood but they can also use all the other kinds. But I still like to donate anyways... when I can!

Incoming poll!

Nope, just means your kids most likely will be B. Unless you are BO and your husband is BO... then you could have BB, BO, or OO kids... which would make their blood types either B or O.

It's the - sign after the blood type that women have to worry about. Because if you are -, then you can have problems with pregnancy if your babies blood is not the same Rh factor as you.

That's interesting... because they told me they don't need my blood, but they could really use my plasma because they can get all the proteins or whatever it is they filter out of plasma all from just my blood... where I guess A, B, or O people they can only get that one type of "something" out of theirs.

Because you got a B allelle from your dad and O from your mom... so you're B... then your sister got an A allelle from your dad and O from your mom... so she's A. :)

Honestly, no idea. I can't remember the last time I even had blood work done. I've never had any through Tricare, so they wouldn't know. Shots make me have panic attacks, so I've always avoided them.

i gave plasma once a few years ago i offered to do it again but they told me that they dont have women do it anymore for some reason.

That's interesting... because they told me they don't need my blood, but they could really use my plasma because they can get all the proteins or whatever it is they filter out of plasma all from just my blood... where I guess A, B, or O people they can only get that one type of "something" out of theirs.

I'm A+ and I've never donated but I've always wanted to... My parents didn't want me donating when I was younger, and ever since I've been old enough to decide on my own, I've either been sick, or had a piercing/tattoo that was too new. :/ Got at least another year too before I'll be able to.

My step-sister is AB-(I'm pretty sure) or AB+, I can't remember, but I do remember that she said only 3% of the population has her blood type.

Oh, and my parents were both A+ as well.

dh is AB- and I'm O+ Not sure about ds, I'd have to dig up his folder of records...
They were freaked that he might have some kind of disorder when he was born because of dh and I having clashing blood types? He never was sick, though :)

Ok, stupid question probably, but how would I know? I don't recall ever being told. Is it part of a normal blood panel? I get blood tests done every three months... so maybe I'll just ask next time? :shrug

I'm A-

I grew up my whole life thinking that I was A+ (because both my parents are +) But when I got preggo, they told me I was negative. They said that it is very very very rare for it to happen (like less than a 20% chance) But my parents possitives made a negative lol. So yeah I am negative and Toby is O- so Ellie is A- as well :D

If you ever give blood (Red Cross) they will send you a card that tells you

I don't know. I am not allowed to give blood so I have never found out. Oh well maybe I can find out another way
