Put her in a cool bath
I agree and alternate between motrin and tylenol.

take her temp rectally. alternate motrin and tylenol every four hours. DO NOT take her to the ER for a temp that loww

in the ER they have protocol. if all she has is a temp, they'll give her tylenol, get a urine sample (a cath), take a chest ex-ray, and a blood sample. MOST of those things have to be done while holding her down.

And I'd say put her in a lukewarm/room temp bath. A cool bath may cause her temp to go up

:yes
DD had a temp of 104 once and motrin did nothing. I took her to the ER and the first thing they did was give tylenol along with the motrin. If she won't take it by mouth you can always do it by butt.:giggle. If you go to any drug store just ask the guy behind the counter. It has to be chilled so it's in the fridge. Fevers are not always a bad thing. It's the bodys natural way of fighting an infection. My Dr says not to give the kids anything for it unless it's over 102 or they are showing other symptoms. I know they can scare the hell out of a Mom. Watch out for the cool baths. Use a cool washcloth to wipe her down with. Let us know how she is. I am sorry. I don't know how old she is. if she is a young one I would call the Dr just in case. Mine are 10 and 7 so I don't stop to think they could be younger.:lol

My kids have gone into different ER's with fevers over 102. and have never had ANY of that done...

you are lucky. I took dd twice, and unless she's lethargic or non-responsive, I will not take her for fever again. It was TERRIBLE, and torture for her and me. Turns out she just had some virus that lasted a week. Hell, she's sick now with daycare gunk. :mumble

I say don't give her anything until the fever is over 102 because the fever is fighting infection. They've found it's better not to give children Motrin or Tylenol until a fever gets higher (they say it's better not to give them things even up until 104).
Just keep her hydrated.

We always gave my son motrin and never worried about it. Keep the child hydrated big time. Watered down gaterade works great. Also, let her body fight it some. It sounds bad but it helps her work on it. If the temp is consistant...give something to help.
