Trying to set up how to do this and never have seen it before is hard. If you have any pics of this pleas share. I can even find any on the web.

1. what was done to signify the person who won? sash? crown? tiera? tshirt?
2. what was done special if a male spouse won?
3. was there a balloon arch? flower arch? somewhere special for this hug or kiss to take place?

When a command returns from deployment many have a first kiss. Sometimes it is a raffle or drawing that is given away. These sailors are the first people off the ship and get to kiss their spouse first. The kids win first hug. Since this is a carrier with ump-teen million sailors we gave away 5 kisses and 5 hugs.

Now we are just trying to figure out how to do it. I've never seen this happen with dh commands.

I won 1st kiss when the boat returned from PAC in 2000. I didn't have a sash. I was led to the front of the brow and DH was the 1st one off the boat.

Personally I would love the tiara but just in case a male were to win then I think a sash would be best. hehe

If I wore a tiara it would slip off my head right as I see dh cause I would be jumping up and down!! :jump4joy

we had one, but I am not sure if they gave her anything like a sash. I think he just got to get off the ship first and they kissed.

Aw that's cute! When DH comes back he will have been gone for 12 months. And he doesn't get any special homecoming because he didn't deploy with many other people, and he was extended longer than any of them. So I'll just be picking him up from the airport.

When Dh came back from deployment. She didnt get anything like a sash they just called for the person who won and she went on board first. Then all the rest of us went on the ship. Although this isnt normally done they did that cause the inpection of the ship was taking longer than normal for some reason.

I won first Kiss back in 2002. What they did for me was I had up close parking on the pier Dh was on a small ship of 300 people. I got to go past the gate and wait for the ship to pull in. They had agate where first kiss new moms and Ombudsman and support group members got to go through while eveyone else had to wait. When the ship pulled up and the archway was put up the ladynext to me our Ombudsman told me they will be sending dh down. So everyone was screaming I was looking for hubby and the next thing I know is he is walking and taking his sweet time getting off the arch way thing. Then we were told we had to wait till themedia got it on camera when we got the go ahead I got my first kiss and off comes the crew and we go home. I am going to go look for pics and see if I can find them.

I believe that the winner got a sash. She was led up the brow and her husband was let off first. Then right after that, they led the child who got first hug up, then new dads and so on. We only had 1 winner for first kiss and 1 winner for first hug, and DH was on a carrier too!

amanda I think they should..i am pretty sure it depends on the boat though.. On DH's last cruise at one of the boat meetings I went to they were talking about it and it was for everyone..you just bought the tickets.

i won first kiss once when we were in WA (it was a sub homecoming). there was nothing special really...i got a nice dress for it, Dh was the first one off, but there was no particular place, just kind of the head of the pack lol. there was a photographer from the base paper there so we had our pics in it which was a nice memento. :goodluck i think it's really nice that you're thinking of ways to make it even more special :D

we only had one and nothing special was done they wouldn't let her take her baby up the brow though she had to hand him to the ombudsman, then the new dads came off, we had a special area for us to stand in right next to the ship i got a little button that said New mom. so i could get to the tent that was it though.

I won first kiss, after spending LOTS of money for it. He was off the ship before the captain. We kissed for about 2 seconds and then he said " Let's get the fuck outta here" and we were gone. Plus we only had a babysitter for another hour or so and we wanted to get home to .. uh, bake cookies... yeah that's it, bake cookies. :blush

That's what I thought, but when she said something about for each command, I was like "hmmm...." since we're not even on the same coast as where the ship comes in at. I don't think it would make much of a difference when DH gets home anyway because from what I remember, they only used two planes to come home from their workups.

This is our first "real" homecoming... When he came home from Cuba it was just a bunch of random people from random places flying into JIA. There were only a handful of people that had loved ones there because they all flew home the next day.

I love the sash idea. The balloon arch is so cute too. I'd love that. Im trying to win the first kiss for this deployment.
