yep we changed our mind again lol. we are going to do this package from storkwearhouse.com:

Everything I Need Economy Diaper Package

This package may get you through the whole time your child is in diapers. The only additional purchase you would need to make might be larger size Bummis wraps.

2 dozen infant/newborn Chinese prefolds
1 dozen premium Chinese prefolds
6 Bummis Super Whisper Wraps
2 Snappi fasteners (your choice of colors)
1 small Bummis tote (for diaper bag)
2 XL Bummis totes (diaper pail liners)
54 Qt Diaper Pail
1 dozen cloth wipes
Please note size and type of Bummis wraps in the comments section of the cart.
If nothing is noted, we will assume you want smalls in gender neutral colors.

Price: $224.95

we'll probably get some AIOs or one size, etc etc as we go along

just a suggestion before you shell out $224...

why don't you try a smaller package in case you don't like CDs?

well we are absolutely doing CD. it's cheaper overall, a bigger initial investment but cheaper over the long run. plus pre folds are the cheapest to go with

i don't think anything bad about people who don't CD or BF or anything else kwim? each person makes their own decisions for their babies and i respect that kwim?

Didn't someone on here say something about using one type of cloth diaper and it wasn't good for her child but another one worked better? Or something like that anyway lol. What I'm getting at is what if those don't work well then you spent all that money on it for nothing. :dunno

well prefolds are in general the best because they are more "custom" to your child, you can fold them tighter or loser, etc etc. it's not a fitted fit

That's what I would be afraid of. I wouldn't want to spend all that money if they didn't work well with my child. Then, I'd have to spend more money on ones that did work well.

:yes Is there a way you can try different kinds before paying all that money?

I think it's awesome you're going to CD.

looking at all the pirces and all that it would actually be about the same price to get everything that i need and the various types of diapers

IMO, that's alot of money to spend on something you don't even know if you'll like using. You may feel differently once you actually have her and are using the diapers. And I'm sure there are some kids that just can't use the cloth diapers, just like there are some that can't use disposable. I would see about getting a smaller pack as a trial run - you don't want this to bite you in the ass later.

no offense to any of y'all but i'm so sick of getting conflicting messages. i mean i hear don't buy too much of anything but prefolds, then i get don't buy a bunch of prefolds. i'm so confused at this point i'm sick of looking :gaah

You're gonna get conflicting messages because people have different opinions about everything.

That's understandable. You're only 20 weeks, you can take a break from constant searching. You have time.

It's just part of parenting. Each parent has to find what's right for their child and no two children are the same. When you ask for opinions everyone is gonna have one and there will always be conflicting messages. It's wonderful to be able to make the decisions about CD and BF before your due date. I think what most of the ladies mean by "try before you buy" is that no matter how well laid out our plans may be for our child there is always the chance of the unexpected. Sometimes mothers who have the best intentions to BF are unable to once they try or they give up after trying in vain. I'm sure the same is true for CD's.

Ultimately, it's your choice. If you and your DH feel that this is the best investment then by all means go ahead. I wish you the best with CD's. Once the baby arrives you will find what works best.

:yes I know it's frustrating since you're hearing a bunch of people saying different things, but ultimately, it's up to you and your husband because only you two know what's best.
