Ok this is a reason I have yet to read a serious parenting/pregnancy book...

Our friend said that if a baby does not blow bubbles with their mouth by 2 months they will have a speech impediment...

Is this true?

you can read 10 books and get 10 different theories on what things mean when babies do things or don't do things..... I wouldn't hold it as gold.

I don't think any of my kids blew bubles.. like ever... and Alex and Cameron have excellent speech.

I can't remember Eian ever blowing bubbles either....he's learning to talk fine now (what speech issues he does have is because of his hearing problems).
All babies are different, therefor you can read a ton of different books and get a different opinion on it all....

:shrug

i never took stock in anything i read because there is so much conflicting information out there and every baby develops differently

Umm sounds like someone is a dumbass. I've never heard that, I think they heard it somewhere and claimed they read it. Probably an old wive's tale.

I have heard that when they're teething they blow bubbles the closer they are to cutting their teeth. Don't know how true that is either... :giggle

Ditto. Only I've been working with kids for 15 years. I have worked very closely with the speech pathologists in my line of work. Believe me, that's just one of those old wive's tales. Don't worry about it.
