View Full Version : Dang you ALL (and DH too!!!)
Becca 08-03-2007, 11:28 AM Thanks to all the talk on the boards, and DH's decision to read the entire freakin' series in 3 weeks, I have been persuaded to read the Harry Potter series. I'm starting book one this weekend.
:giggle
I love the movies - but I take so long to read books - if they don't hold my attention I'll put them down for weeks before I pick them up again.
THIS BETTER BE GOOD!!!
theElephant 08-03-2007, 11:29 AM I think they will catch your attention! they are a lot of fun! Enjoy
harrisonsdream 08-03-2007, 11:29 AM book 1 and 2 are a little slow because they are setting stuff up. 1 is definitely written for younger teens/kids. good luck i hope you like them
MIKOSWIFEY 08-03-2007, 11:29 AM You will sit there all day and read them til you're done. I guarantee you. :yes
oh Becca my dear if Cat can get thru 4 books and i am on book 5 then I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will be hooked like the rest of us are. I think J K Rowling has cast one of her Charming Spells on those books or on us once we start reading LOL.. Do you have all the books?

Nope...but I have friend with all the books :D :giggle
DH said the same thing about book 1. He also said that JK Rowling even said in an interview that she didn't set out to make these childrens books. That of course the first book was lighter because the kids were 11...but the series grows darker and deeper throughout. DH finished book 7 and said he wouldn't be surprised if the movie was rated 'R'... :thinking
I'm looking forward to reading them.
well you have 2 friends that have the books cause I have the whole lot of them now. If you need to borrow any just let me know and i will mail you the one you need. but if you have a local friend who has them thats great.
or does your DH have them all. i mean if you two are both reading the books at the same time you will both need 2 copies LOL
sunshyne 08-03-2007, 11:45 AM I personally am not a reader. I just have never enjoyed reading, but I picked up the Harry Potter book one day and decided to give it a try....I could not put it down! I love all of them so much!
Becca 08-03-2007, 11:45 AM DH has already finished them ;)
goldilockz 08-03-2007, 11:46 AM :mwahaha

That's encouraging :D I like to read, I just don't like to read boring material :lol The last good book I read was Marley & Me, and before that The Bean Trees and Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver. I freakin' LOVE Barbara Kingsolver. I tried to read Once Upon a Day, but I just can't get into it. It's been sitting on my nightstand for about a month - I got about halfway through and it drags.
usnfla4 08-03-2007, 01:33 PM I started book 1 on Monday... I'm on 3 now. They're ADDICTING!
you will LOVE them! enjoy, girlie!
Traci 08-03-2007, 04:12 PM I read book 1-4 in a week. Once I started I couldn't stop. it kept me interested.
MichelleB 08-03-2007, 04:15 PM Suka!!!!! :lol They are great! I don't think you will be disapointed :)
Amber V 08-03-2007, 04:26 PM I think that JK Rowling did an amazing job of keeping with her Audience. There are kids who litterally grew up with Harry Potter.
The books are amazing. As soon as I get around to going through my boxes in the garage I will re-read all 7 books again. This will be my 3rd time reading through the series (with the exception of book 7).
Becca 08-14-2007, 08:59 AM Well - just finished book 1. :D On to book 2. :lol
well what did you think of Book 1. it must have kept your interest if you are starting on book 2. I am still on book 5 but I have been a lot slower reading that one but I need to get a move on. I am almost halfway finished book 5
Becca 08-14-2007, 09:37 AM I mean, it was good - but I knew the story, so :dunno
Dawnzie 08-21-2007, 05:03 AM i love harry potter... i spent my school years growing up on them..yes yes i am a big loser:heehee
