The kids do the naming. The chihuahuas registered name is "Jobys Bubbles" but Joby named her when he was almost 2 and the only thing he could say was Billow for bubbles so we call her billow.

Josh named the fish Nemo because all fish are called nemo.

Joby named the mutt Patty Mayonaise off a cartoon.

I like to pick something original!!! Gotta put thought into it!!LOL
I have a cat named Cheddar(cheese) and I used to have a chiuaha mix named Smidgen(she was only 4 lbs)

I chose to give a name with meaning. We always try to name our pets based on how the name fits their personality and what they look like. It can be a very common name, or something very original. Our dog's name is Jake. Its very basic, but it seemed to fit him perfectly. I've had pets named Chance, Dallas, and Rio.

I haven't gotten to name either of my animals. Dad picked out Pixel's name (he was working in computers at the time) and Dh named Monkey (because when I first met the kitten, he was a little climbing monkey)

My dogs Ellie Mae & Sadie Sue were given names I would have given a little girl at some point in time! :lmao I would never name a child either now... because of the dogs.

I have three silvercloud tetra (they're about this big <--->) named Slippy, Slappy and Samsonite :)

My pets are named with a theme....cars. Both my piggies have names that are associated with performance car part companies, and because there is lots with cute names I like it works, LOL. Nismo is Nissan Motorsports brand, Momo makes steering wheels and other parts. My next pet will be named Megan, as in Megan racing. And my fake digital pets I have on the board are also all named by car companies. Trix is for Mazda Trix, Bride is a company that makes seats, Motegi makes wheels and has Motegi racing, and Greddy makes exhausts.

For Courage it was because she was afraid of everything at first so she became Corage, the cowardly dog.

Miss Kitty came with the name and it just fir her

Boots has white feet

Sunny is Sunny because my MIL has a white yappy dog named Frosty. DH doesn't like yappy dogs so we tried to figure out what Frosty the snowman's worst enemy would be. Which is of course the sun. So our puppy became Sunny

i guess i let the pet name itself. i look at it and see what pops into my head usually.

exception was apollo. i had wanted a brindle boxer named apollo for a few years so i got one :D

Our pup's name is ROCCO De La Hoya (Rocky Balboa and Oscar De La Hoya--because he's a boxer:mrgreen

We try to be orginial and different.

Our dog's name is Sir Doy Doy. Doy Doy was what E called him when he saw him so we thought "Hey, thats weird and off the wall!!" ANd now his UKCI certificate even reflects that. He will forever be known as Sir Doy Doy the lhaso Apso :hehe

We pick names that display either the animals personality or physical traits. My dog is named Ginger because her fur is this gold red color that reminded me of a girl I went to HS with. One of my cats is Kitty boy and the other is Cocoa Crispy Cat.

Our dogs names are Fat boy, Shanowa, Gizzie are my poms. Kaos is my great dane mix who earned his name by getting in to everything when he was a pup. and we have our kitty who is blk and wht, my daughter called him moo moo cuz she thought he was a cow so thats how he got his name.

our bulldog's house name is Ralph..that was the name of dh's first bulldog when he was a kid so he wanted that...we still aren't sure what his akc name will be though...
piglet is our pitbull and that was the name her previous owners gave her so we kept it..
shadow is our cat's name..my son named her and she is definitely a shadow in our house...she hates ppl so usually we see her as she zooms by us trying to get away...

All my pets are unique. I dont like naming my animals after common people names.
My pit- Fefe. She was so girly when we got her, so she just had to be a Fefe Marie.
My kitty- When I was little I couldnt say my uncle Peters name so I called him Pego (he still goes by that today.) So I decided my kitty would be named Pego. But I call him Piggy most of the time.
And the new baby- She came by Dottie because she is a tiny little thing and she has a BIG dot on the top of her head.
