So my name is Amy Im 23 and Ive been with my boyfriend Derrick, 26 (he's in the Airforce) for 2yrs next week. We plan to get engaged this year sometime and married maybe next spring.
Last week we found out that he will most likely be transfered to Germany for 3 years. SO he said we would most likely have to get married before we go because of costs to ship all my stuff there and having to change my name, etc, etc...
Now its not that I dont want to marry Derrick, I know he's the one I want to spend the rest of my life with....I guess I would just feel a little rushed. When I think about gettign married next spring atleat I have the time to warm up to it...and plan it! Is it even possible to plan a wedding in 4 months?!
SO MY QUESTION: Am I given the same privilages (moving all my stuff) if we go to Germany engaged? or do we have to be married???

No, you'd have to be married. But if you're not 100% ready, it might be worth waiting and forking out the extra money for removals.

no, you have to be married and on his orders as a dependent before the military will move any of your stuff. HTH's :)

and if you aren't married but move there the comman may not sponsor you.
Which means you would be on your own period! No medical nothing
