My name is Kait im 20 ive been with my fiance Chris for 2 years we are from boston mass we have a 2 month old son named Jaeden!!! Chris just left for boot camp in the army in Georgia. It happened really fast he left like a week or so after he signed up so this whole thing confuses me:dunno :). I was wondering how long it'll take for him to be able to write to me and how often their allowed to ? I could use any information on the whole thing and what to expect and any advice anyone has. WE've never been apart like this and i miss hm like crazy :depressedi cannot even imagine having him go to iraq so god bless people who do have there boys over there. Well anyways it would be nice to meet some people and have someone to talk to that understands everything im going threw because my friends dont get it they'll say ya i know how you feel i cant see so and so for a whole 2 days this week and i wanna hit them:vent haha so hope someone responds!

Thanks!!!

:hi welcome to the site where we serve all the support you can handle! it's a buffet of helpful advice!
not exactly sure, but about a week or so into marine bootcamp i recieved a letter from him with his address. believe me, they usually can't wait for you to have their address! even before i had the address i would write him letters daily. then sent them all at once. wish i could have seen his face! :giggle if he has a pretty friendly recruiter, i'd go visit him or call him with questions. i'd visit my hubby's recruiter about once every 10 days or so. we actually became pretty good acquaintances. but i'm sure there are plenty of people on here who could answer them as well. good luck and best wishes! :hugs

:heythere Yeah he should get the address once he actually gets into bootcamp. Depending on the location and the drill srgts the phone calls are usually just once a week for 2 minutes at first then they can earn more time later. Everything is earned so it also depends on how well he does. He'll probably ask you to write letters and send them everyday cause it's so important to them. He'll write you during personal time which depends but I think it's an hour per night. My df wrote during class sometimes too so I don't know how much time they get. Hope this helps. :)

He should be able to call you with an address about a week after he gets there. The first week they are in welcoming batallion and have no address. Usually the 2nd night or 1st sunday after they are moved to the basic training unit, they are allowed a 5-10 min phone call in order to tell you they are there and give you an address. My brother is at Ft. Sill basic right now and my husband is at Ft. Benning basic right now and this is how it worked for both of them. My husband seems to get more phone calls though. He has actually called me 7 times since he got there and he's now in week 5 of basic training. My bro is in week 7 and has only called 2 times. i think it depends on the drill. Good luck with everything. You should hear from him soon.:)

my df didnt give me a mail back address for like 3 weeks, and i wasn't able to get a call until much later, but this may vary from base to base...they are supposed to get an hour of "down" time but my df said that never really happened because they were always having to do other stuff... so good luck and welcome to the site!!!

Keep yourself busy and do not try to think of the negative and him possibly getting deployed. Oh and welcome to the site, this is a good place for support. You are correct, people, moreso your civilian friends do not understand what it is to be a military SO. People ask me all the time how my wife is and how I am able to handle being here ahd her on a ship. I understand it more because I am prior Navy. Write hime ofter in basic because he will look forward to letters.
