Does your job work well with you about taking time off?

My hubby could very well be back in the states within a few weeks, coming home early from deployment to go to WLC(?) class. He thinks he'll have one weekend off before the school starts, and I want to go visit him. He also would like for me to come down and visit on his graduation day from the class in Sept. and my B-day which is the week after his graduation. We figured I could come down for just the weekends. Either leave after I get off work at 230pm and get down there late on a Friday or ask for the Fridays before off and drive down thursday night giving us an extra day since I'll have to leave rather early on Sundays to make it home in time to get a good nights sleep for work.

The only thing is, I've just started this job, last week was my training and this coming week I will meet my actual supervisor and start the actual job. So I"ve not been there long. I applied for this job close to 4 months ago (but they do extensive background checks and such) and unfortunately didn't get to actually start until last week. I mentioned this when I first applied and such to the HR lady(taking time off because of hubby getting back). And she said she wasn't sure, that I'd just have to ask after I started the job. I could take vacay time based on however much I've accumalated by then which now isn't much because I didn't get to start 4 mnths ago.
I asked a trainer about taking time off and she said usually they are pretty good about it, just to talk to my supervisor as soon as possible.

I'm just nervous because I know it looks bad because I've just started, but I never take time off otherwise, and its just bad timing, I can't control the fact that I didn't get to start until now, nor can I control the army.
I was really lucky with my last job, they gave me like almost a month off before he deployed with absolutely no problems and I hadn't worked there long (but that was retail).

So the long rambling is meant to ask.. Does your job work with you on stuff like this? Have you ever had to?

BTW: I figure I'll explain the situation and the days, and then see if I can get all of them, if not I'll ask how many I can get and then we'll decide which times I should go down there.

Yes, I do the scheduling...I give them all a blank calendar and a deadline of two days to fill it out...We have no set vacation days or anything like that.

I straight up told her when I started that I'm in a sorority and my boyfriend is the military, so I'll give her two weeks in advance but there will be days I need off, and she just needs to deal with it.. and if she doesn't like that I'll find another Walgreen's that does, :giggle.

I hope they work with you! :)
