DB is getting ready to leave, so I want to send him a package right away so he can get it shortly after he gets there (hopefully...) Hes not sure what his address is, but he gave me one that just sounds weird. Do all the guys on the ship have the same address, just with their name on top instead?
Also, since this is my first ever package to send, what do I do about custom forms and stuff? :dunno I really am clueless. Thanks for any help ladies!

if he is attatched to the ship then yes they will all have just about the same addy. If he is with a squadron then it will be slightly different with a unit number and possible a shop number or name.

ok, hes on the ship....it just seemed weird, like:

His name
uss enterprise

almost too general...but hey, if it works :)

There should be a division too. For example, when I was on the Lincoln, my addy was

My Rate & Name
Reactor/RC Div
USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72
FPO-AP Blah Blah Blah

Quick tip that I found out through another site. You can get free packaging from the US Post Office. They will send flat rate boxes, a big roll of tape, customs forms etc. You just need to pay for the postage for the package you are sending.

You just have to call (800) 610-8734 and press 1 and then 1 again. Tell them you need a military care package kit. They will send all the packaging stuff to your home. Its works out really nice.

If you can find out his department/division , it'll get to him much faster. A carrier has upwards of 6,000 people when deployed, and if it's just his name and the carrier, you have no guarantee he'll get it. At least find out a department if you can.

Good luck!! :)

Oh, and def go for the free supplies from the post office! :yes Great tip!

What does he do? His department & division are based on his job. If he's already stationed on the ship, he has a department and division already.

Hes an air traffic controller...hes not on the ship yet, hes flying out to meet them, so do you think he might not have one yet?

As soon as he checks in, they'll assign him to the appropriate department/division.

I'm guessing he's in the Air Department, not sure what division he'd be in, but adding Air Department to the address would help expedite his package. Of course, if he's not, it'll take even longer.....

I'd have him contact his command or sponsor and get the address..before sending it.

They never gave him a sponser...dont really know what that means, but I know he said he isnt happy

Be glad that he wasn't on the boat last year...this is their 2nd time on deployment since May 2006. :wink They just got home from deployment last Nov. and left in July again after doing workups that started in Febr.

I know, I decided that at least I wont have to wait the whole deployment for my first one, since its already a month down.

Wow thanks, I didnt know any of that existed!! Yeah Im a :duh when it comes to this new deployment stuff!!

I wish I knew some advice about the address, other than asking him. If he doesnt know, he can ask someone. With Df, it was always something as simple as asking a tiny question to get the info we needed, but I guess it was a pride thing that he just couldn't surpass. I had to push and push and push until he finally broke down and asked someone.. "See, wasn't that easy??":nutts
Good luck!

Haha so true...I ask him questions all the time, and he always forgets to ask. Half the time I think he just makes something up so that I get off his back. Haha. I couldnt tell you how many times Ive asked him his address, and about dates and stuff, and he always ends up telling me they dont know. I think hes just lazy :lol

definitely a good thing to do...makes it all easy! until you get it, though, the post office will know what forms you need! :)

Great! Thanks so much! I know I still need help with the forms, and will I be able to do a thing where they pick it up at my house? I hate my post office :lol

No, you will have to take it in to the post office. the forms aren't really a big deal, you just list your name and addy, his name and addy, and the contents and value of the box. I have to use them with everything larger than a letter that I send!
