Well my hubby was wanting us to live off base but where we are going to be new I didn't really want to just jump into an apartment I don't know anything about ,so I was trying to find some good info to tell my hubby WHY we should live on base at first..

Hey :) That was my base before this one and I LOVED it!! It's been 3 years but 3 years ago...I would say rent in Surprise or buy a house in Surprise. I loved it there. It was quiet and pretty and right near all the shops. It's also about 10-15 from base. Now base housing I lived in the newest housing they had. They didn't even have gate Guards there yet. But it was beautiful housing and very spacious.
I was never stationed there because we are Navy but I am from that area. If you can afford to buy there then it may be a good investment if the market goes up when you need to sell. Home prices have gone way up in the last few years but it is definitely a buyers market because people are having a really hard time selling so the negoiation is alot better. I am not sure what the BAH is but I can pretty much tell you that its probably not enough to cover rent/mortgage and utilities.
