Hi Everyone! I am so happy to have come across this site tonight as I am seeking to give and recieve support as an army girlfriend. My Boyfriend of 5 months is stationed at Ft. Drum in NY and he is set for deployment in a few days. This of course makes me anxious and I miss him a lot already, but as all of us learn to accept at some point...it's his job and he has to do it.
My particular situation has a lot of differences compared to others I have read because the relationship my boyfriend and I have has been long distance from the start. We were friends at first and then found much more in each other and decided to start the relationship. The thing is though that I am from and currently in Jamaica in the West Indies and he is in NY and is a 100% american soldier. I go to school in the US (Florida) so I am there some of the time. I visit him in NY and we've spent a lot of time together, talk on video confrences and on the phone.
He's going to be deployed for about 15 months total but he will be coming to my island on his time off in about 9 months (can't wait!) and has decided that he is going to propose to me when he gets here! We love each other VERY VERY much.
I am really looking forward to chatting with everyone here and recieving some of the wisdom and support that everyone has to share.
Till then I will keep reading the previous posts and being strong for my Army Man.
