harrisonsdream 08-13-2007, 03:53 PM i was an english minor but i'm not doing one anymore

Rileysmom 08-13-2007, 03:55 PM At the art school I am going to, they don't allow it. :mumble But if they offered it, I would. Just makes you that much more valuable! :five
dotb182 08-13-2007, 03:56 PM When I was at ODU I was a psych minor, mostly b/c it was very helpful with my nursing courses
BLBnJVB3 08-13-2007, 03:57 PM When I went to UNF I majored in Psych. and minored in Sociology. I'd say yes those two go hand in hand. Especially since I was planning on getting my Master's in Counseling. I also decided on the Sociology minor since I started out majoring in Sociology so I had alot of credits for the minor already. When I went there you needed 45 credits to finish with that minor.

very cool! i thought you meant like RISD or Pratt - that kind of art school. i was thinking of going to Pratt.
Rileysmom 08-13-2007, 04:01 PM I wanted to go to the Art Institute in the worst way, but it's just so damn expensive and BARELY any credits would transfer, so I went here instead.
What major are you pursuing?

did you move this thread? got me confused for a sec...
i'm majoring in visual arts...getting my Bachelor of Fine Arts. My consentration will be 2D visual art....drawing and painting.
did you minor in anything when you went to college? I'm a Law & Politics minor
did it have anything to do with your major? Not directly-which is why I like it. I love finding the interconnections between psychology and Law/Politics.
how many credits were required to finish the minor? 5 classes and an internship. We have a weird credit system-we don't go by credit hours.
I'm a biochem major and I'll be a microbio minor as soon as I get back to declare it. I only have to do 15 extra credits for it as a minor.
I wanted to minor in Mythology or Creative Writing or Psychology or something like that, but none of those have minors, so I went with microbio in case I decide I like it as a better major. :D
fridayheather 08-13-2007, 10:56 PM I'm an English major/Education minor (I want to be a high school English teacher). I want to say I need 18 credit hours in my minor out of the 60 total needed to graduate, but I could be wrong.
jlbecker 08-14-2007, 09:58 PM i was a painting major & art ed minor. i dont know how many extra credits it was, but i graduated with 153 credits total.

i believe that's because the Art Institute isn't accredited. :dunno i might be wrong. my ex went there and had some trouble with credits too.
texasgal 08-15-2007, 09:13 AM i'm an english major with a minor in medieval & renaissance studies. not sure about the credit hour divisions. m & r was offered as a minor by the english dept., so yes, hand-in-hand. but there were many people who mixed & matched at texas state. i'm sure if you've explained your reasoning with your school then you'll be hearing back with a yes. i've never known a school to deny something like that. :goodvibes hope it goes through!
Jennygirl 08-15-2007, 10:10 AM The art institute is where my sister went...They had a program where you can go to a Pittsburgh college after your two years and get your bachalors. Did you ask the local one if they did a program like that?
Its not that its not accredited, its just a speciality school, and most schools dont just have those classes, so it makes it harder to transfer.
