Besides being with your dh, what do you like most about where you are stationed?
I like that the schools are on the base. I don't have far to go to drop them off at their schools.

I guess I would have to say my house. The area is growing so that is a plus. I just wish that there was more to do here :(

The school my children go to is OUTSTANDING! I love the town we live in and the fact that we're nestled in the woods (privacy galore!!) yet still only 10 minutes from the mall :)

Here in Fallon, we have the best of both worlds we live in the county but the city isn't to far away. We do see all 4 seasons here so thats a big plus for me. We don't have a school on the base but everyone I have talked to speaks very highly of the school system in town, and the bus does pick them up here in housing. Fallon is one of the Navy's best kept secrets!

I am here in Hawaii I love the beaches and the before scenary and that is about it. The schools here are not good at all and the traffic is bad so i can't wait to leave.

I would love living in the woods, but not far from the city. I love both, but don't want to be far from either one.

I'm from CT so I always had dreamed of someday owning a house in the town we live in. We're lucky enough to afford it. I feel very blessed. :)

I live in Chesapeake, Va. the only thing I like to do here is go to the beach and shop because I am a compulsive spender and I rarely get to go to the beach cause my hunny is sick of seeing the ocean.

I honestly love almost everything about here. I haven't had one complaint yet compared to Hawaii I think I started complaining the day we got there....

Everything.... LOL I just hated everything about it there, the schools, the people, the traffice, the stores, the bugs, there was only two beaches that I really cared going too, the only thing I did like was the friends that I made and my house. I am so negative about Hawaii... :blush

I'm negative about this place too. It's hard to act positive when we really don't like a place.

There isn't much I don't like about Jax other than the traffic and some of the idiot people. But they are everywhere, huh? :hehe

I love my college, I love that I have a lot of friends and family here, and I love the area. There is such a variety of stores and resturants--which is a big deal to me since I grew up in a small town that had next to nothing---and you are are pretty centrally located just about everywhere.

that's why I like Jax so much. It's not a very pretty place, but I can visit Atlanta, Orlando, and many other places in one day. I noticed that there are less idiot drivers here than there are in Jax though. The traffic in Jax is not always fun, but that just means that people are going to jobs and fun places, which is a good thing.

So far I love it here in WA. The scenery is beautiful, if I want to go hicking, fishing etc it's not too far away. I'm an hour from Seattle (haven't been there yet though, Hopefully when DH gets back we'll go). Silverdale itself isn't too big of a city but also not too small.

This is my first base so I can only compare to the civilian life here. I like that everything's so much easier on the base - everyone speaks English (sounds silly but NOONE speaks English in my area and my Japanese is sketchy at best!) and I can buy all of my comfort items. I like that noone stares at you either - off base, I've had cars stop to stare at me (they dont get many foreigners....)

It feels like home here to us. We like the weather, the smaller town/city atmosphere, the surroundings. There is so much so close at hand. Seattle just a ferry ride away there is access to concerts, theater, musicals, professional sports (Mariners, Seahawks, & Sonics in particular). So much I couldn't even mention them all. The only thing I haven't liked in this area is the schools. Not terribly impressed but there are other options in the way of private schools in the area.

Don't really know I was born and raised here so I think I love everything about it!! lol!!! 2 hours from the beach and 1 hour from the mountains is great. And the weather her is great. Doesn't really get that cold. But we do live about 40 minutes from the base in a bigger city. I think if we lived closer to the base I wouldn't like it as much since it is a WAY smaller town.

haha, I know what you mean girl. That WAY smaller town is where I am! Two hrs from the beach is far to me, so do you know of any camping sites near the beach?

There are a few that run right behind the beach in Pismo. But it's way to cold to go there right now... Yeah we might be moving to that "small town" after the new year and it will suck! I will be driving here all the time to do stuff!

gotcha. My family barely visited when I was two towns over. I lived "all the way over there" to them. that was fine with me though cuz they hardly ever just popped in. Hopefully I'll live close enough to keep my craving for the food and Mardi Gras satisfied, but not too close that I see them everyday.

We're in Great Mistakes. Honestly I hated it when we were here in 98 and I hate it now. The best thing about here? That my son was born and is here! That is probably the biggest positive I can find....The pizza here is good...But everything is a drive and I am not used to that. And the city itself is blah, and I miss my west coast food etc.

the weather........sheesh it's hard to pick one.

I'm in hawaii and i LOVE that every single day I think "wow it's GORGEOUS out"

I love the weather, the people, the scenery, the outdoor activities, the ability to travel to other islands that are very different from one another.

I have only been here a month. But I love that everything is pretty close We save a ton of gas compared to SD. I love that I have a yard for Blake to play in. I am sure I will find more things I love as time goes on, , the baby is born, I actually feel like going places and I start to meet people. lol

i've lived in this area for as long as I can remember and my favorite thing is how close we are to everything. We want to go to the beach its a two hour drive. the mountians two hours the other way. We live 10 min from portland, Or. I love the tall green trees, the lakes and rivers. I like that I could drive 4 hours east and be in the desert 4 hours north and be in a rain forest. I can't wait to see how exciting the rest of the counrty is!
