Anybody know all the rules of the Soldiers and Sailors Act to to me specific do you know if the crditors are allowed to report you to the Credit Bureau's?

I called GMAC to let them know my SUV payment was on the way and the guy I spoke to said that it is no problem that he see's the military orders on file and to just pay what ever I can that nothing is being reported to the Credit Bureau's. (I thought this was awesome attitude coming from a huge lending company, most of them want to hound you)
BUT
on the other had I called Kay Jewelers (for my whole big little $200.00 balance we have) and they got really snotty saying that they have already contacted the credit bureau's and I asked can you do that I thought everything was supposed to be forgiven?... she then (this is my favorite) says what about you? cant you pay it your listed on the account too are you in the military too? at this point I went off...so she says she didnt know anything about the Saliors and Soldiers act and put her supervisor on the phone...he was snotty as well and said THEY HAVE TO report the the credit bureau's ...I ended up hanging on on him I was so red...and I didnt want to say that he was wrong because I dont know the rules and if they are not supposed to be reporting to them.

My second question was ....with us being married if there are loans and credit cards in my name only, do they still have to go by the Soldier and Sailors act for us? or only if he is listed on the account. The reason why I ask this is back to GMAC the SUV is only in my name alone and they are still applying it to that. And I thought he had to be on the laon...Are they just a awesome company or are they following the rules? :dunno

TIA

I am not sure about the sailor/soldier act but I was told that whatever debt you have prior to going active military and you dont pay it or are late that could affect things but I am not too sure. We dont have a car payment, yet, since the car we have was given to us as a gift by my parents. From what I hear a person could potentially get the boot out of the military for debt but then that doesnt make much sense because then a lot more people would be getting the heave ho and I think the military as a whole has bigger fish to fry then people that are late on payments.

yeah especially since they are doing everything they can to get people to join...lol...I am suprised that they dont have a debt payoff when if you join like they do the studen loan pay....:lol...that would get a lot of people to join :hehe
