Hi everyone!

We are stationed in Puerto Rico and moving to Camp Pendleton at the beginning of October.

We'll be driving from Florida to Pendleton with 2 teenagers and 2 birds.:shock

I would appreciate any information concerning the various housing neighborhoods, the good, the bad and the ugly. And I am also looking for somewhere to board my birds, until we figure out the housing situation. Every place I called only takes dogs and cats.

Thanks.

Hi and welcome! I used to live at Camp P. I will be back in about 4 or 5 months. I would look for bird vets in Cali. You might even have to go to San Diego to house the birds. I know that sucks but it might be the only biggest city where they might have something. The housing on base I personally loved it. I love to be on the base though. Out in Town in Oceanside is good in some places and not so good in others. Feel free to pm me if you would like! IN fact my friend is moving there in the next month! again WELCOME!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I have not been in US soil for almost ten years, so I am very excited and a little (ok, a lot) apprehensive. And my kids have visions lazying away at the zoo and the beach on a daily basis.

We are doing all the fun and exciting stuff, involving TMO and shipping vehicles and I can't wait to get it over with, I enjoy moving but I hate the moving part.

So you all don't recommend any particular neighborhood over other?

I like Wire Mountain 3 and Deluz over the other nco houses. If your husband is a snco....then it doesn't matter all their houses are nice & big but i don't know which one accepts pets. I know Pacific View and Stuart Mesa 2 doesn't. Goodluck.

I stay in Camp Pendleton..have any questions just pm me. :)

Hi

Me again!

I finally found a place to board the birds, so I am happy about that, but I think I will be more traumatized over the separation than my birds.

Thankfully according to Housing the birds are not even considered "pets" because they are caged animals.

Because my husband doesn't know what unit he's going to, we don't even have a sponsor, so we are flying blind. That's why I am asking questions and worrying things to death.

It's good to know the housing is nice, I assumed we would be waiting a year for housing, but I found out we are #12 on the list, so we are hoping to get in soon, because the rental prices are just scary.

P.S. Do you all on Pendleton get together at all?
