You were right, gross! WAY too much fire power!!! Wow...
Green~Mammy 08-17-2007, 11:47 PM That is disgusting & is just plain cruelty to animals. Not hunting and IMO should be illegal. From cruelty to animals it is not such a hard leap to be cruel to humans, I would be VERY worried if my husband started doing that to any small animal.
Maybe a warning such as this video depicts cruel murder of small animals then I would of known not to open it. I was thinking it would be some sort of offensive people stuff like a raunchy song or something else stupid I was NOT expecting to see PD.'s blown to pieces, SICK.

Thank you Brandi!
*Sarah* 08-18-2007, 02:34 AM IF they were hunting is it legal to hunt PD? and if it is, they shouldnt be using such a large gun. Those poor things. I am not against hunting, I believe it is part of the circle, BUT I am against it if you are doing it just for kicks and not for the meat. I really dont think it is legal to hunt theose pd.
Mommy2Bailey 08-18-2007, 06:29 AM Nope its not funny. I was just interested because it shows what a 50 cal ammo does. I had never seen one used before.
Sorry to anyone that got offended by the video. Thats why I said it was gross and might offend
SailorWife2B0620 08-18-2007, 08:00 AM I dont understand why you would post that type of thing anyways. Yes you said it was graphic But you should have stated what it was About IMO
Kiser'sBabe 08-18-2007, 10:06 AM That was gross, But did you see how many back flips those PD's did. That is one powerful gun. Just think what that thing would do to a mouse.:shock

Because that is NOT hunting that is blowing something up. Hunting is when you go hunt something then eat the meat and use the hide. Completely different one helps people survive one is someones sick idea of a good time.

leftover 08-18-2007, 01:11 PM Those are disgusting filthy little animals... my uncle has them on his farm in South Dakota, and he hires kids to get rid of them.. They eat his crops, and destroy anything they get their teeth on..
He's had a hard time the last few years with the drought, because they're burrows damage the root systems of his corn...
They compete with his livestock, and cost him money..
I guess most people would prefer removing them humanely, but it's expensive..

I never have issues with you and I def don't now but that being said saying something is gross and might offend some well, I thought it might be some nasty guy dancing or something :lmao I didn't open it however. But had I have posted that I would have said caution this is what a gun (or whatever it was) can do to a PD. JMO Hope you don't hate me for it.

Dont hate you a bit for it. At least you arent whining about how you wish you hadnt seen it.
And I did say in my original post about how it was a little too much fire power. Dont know what else that could be construed as.

Sorry, girl.... I guess I'm bad, cause I laughed out loud at it... I hate those critters, they spread disease.. But I'm partial to farmers, and I'd rather see an ethanol farmer grow a crop then see a PD community thrive...
I'm assuming they must have been at a range of at leat 1000 meters, it actually takes a good amount of skill to shoot them..
At least they weren't poisoned or subjected to a slow painful death..
We pay the neighbor kid $3 for every pigeon he shoots on our property, they live in the barn, and crap on the hay, and make it rot so we can't feed it to the animals.
We have live traps in there for pigeons right now, DH's cousin uses the live birds to train his dog..

Green~Mammy 08-18-2007, 05:19 PM Guess Southern Arizona is weird because they have a PD & GS habitat at the Sonora Desert Wildlife Museum (live exhibits of desert animals in a completely natural setting anyone that comes to Tucson should check the SDWM out!). My kids like watching them do their thing. I always liked watching them when I was a kid too. They remind me of meerkats.
If they are over running then it is only because us humans took out most of their natural predators, the wild cats, wolves, & coyotes. Maybe if we had not fucked the natural order up so bad it would not be an issue.

AMEN, I agree ....how can you stand being with military if you get all upset over a critter being shot. Do you get all horrified when you see roadkill.
Green~Mammy 08-18-2007, 05:22 PM AMEN, I agree ....how can you stand being with military if you get all upset over a critter being shot. Do you get all horrified when you see roadkill.
I don't watch my spouse get shot at I don't even like to think about it. I never went out a blew animals up for "sport" when I was AD I went to a shooting range. War is awful and pointless as is blowing up small animals.
Daphne 08-18-2007, 05:39 PM I wasnt meaning your spouce getting shot at...but more your spouce shooting at other people...but my real point was we are military woman we are supposed to be strong and not live in a bubble and eeek :scared about every little thing....

:tears It doesnt have a warning....Oh it has a warning but not a good enough warning it needs to explain whats the video is about before I watch it ...you could tripple warn them and they would still bitch that it wasnt enough...I seen the warning before I looked at it...here's an idea...if everylittle thing bothers you then dont watch it
Aundi 08-18-2007, 05:40 PM AMEN, I agree ....how can you stand being with military if you get all upset over a critter being shot. Do you get all horrified when you see roadkill.
Roadkill is an accidental thing. Also I've watched ALL kinds of animals being skinned and cut up and it's not disturbing in the least to me because the animal is being used for consumption. The killing of animals just to sit and watch something die and explode takes a cruel heart......it's pointless.
If my DH ever did that for "fun", I would not want to stay married to someone like that:D

What, exactly, does having a spouse in the military have to do with finding the content of the video to be objectionable? Just trying to follow your logic :confuzzle
There is a big difference between hunting, humane population control, etc and killing in the manner shown on the clip for "entertainment".

Coyotes are just as bad and destructive... Sometimes, animals HAVE no natural predators.... sometimes, it's not ALWAYS the human's fault..
Jessi 08-18-2007, 08:21 PM that was awful..oh i almost cried, i hate even seeing roadkill...

I went on to say my point was we are supposed to be strong woman. It does not bother me that my husband may have to shoot and kill another human being..and seeing critters being blown up isnt the end of the world...I watched the whole thing and laughed at how they were doing flips in the air.....was amazed at the firepower of the gun the object didnt even phase me.
Green~Mammy 08-18-2007, 08:36 PM Coyotes are just as bad and destructive... Sometimes, animals HAVE no natural predators.... sometimes, it's not ALWAYS the human's fault..
coyote's are not just as bad & destructive they are under NORMAL conditions a very SHY animal. They are afraid of humans. However humans are encroaching on THEIR territory. Just in Tucson we keep building further and further out into the desert as Tucson grows. Then their natural habitat is being bull dozed for development. Only thing is the coyote (and OTHER natural animals to that habitat) don't move on. I guess they did not get their eviction notices.
Farmers & ranchers are always getting up in arms about coyotes and wolves the thing is IF we had not messed up the natural balance in the first place we would not have this problem of sometimes to much prey & sometimes to many predators BUT never at the same time.
For example the wolves at Yosemite are CONSTANTLY under attack by the ranchers in that area. Yet their is PLENTY of prey for the wolves in that area. The ranchers have NOTHING to fear from the wolves. Does it stop them from trying to get WHOLE PACKS destroyed no. Which I find very disturbing. Someone will have to pay for our rampant destruction of the natural world. Maybe not our children but what about our grandchildren, & great grandchildren?
I disagree humans are to blame because we messed up the natural order by hunting some animals to the very brink of extinction.
lamperz 08-18-2007, 08:36 PM i thought it was kinda funny..... after the initial shock of it. XD

charm586 08-19-2007, 01:37 AM ive seen this before posted on someone's myspace page and i busted out laughing cause i didnt think it could be real!!! when i actually thought of it as an actual animal it is kind of sad... but prairie dogs are extremely over-populated and i think what theyre doing is better than a slow, torturous death.. i dont agree with this posting their video on the internet to gloat about it though. that to me is sicker than the actual video

It's not the idea that they are hunting to eat, but these animals compete with livestock, and are considered vermin that spread disease.....
It's no different then killing raccoons, or skunks, or crows or rats...

Green~Mammy 08-19-2007, 09:04 PM Thank you,
I think it, better than I speak it :lmao - my point was only that our husbands at times have to shoot and kill other humans for a living we know this and except this - and yet some people are having trouble watching citters getting shot...I am a stronger person than that and would hope we all would be
I was a way point plotter for the tomahawks on my first ship, I did not like to think about what the missiles do when they reach their destination. It would of made it very hard to do my job in the event we had ever had to launch them. It doesn't make me any less strong it just means that I choose NOT to think about what my DH may have to do in his line of work. Just like I knew my job and performed it very well. I just could not think about the consequences of my job while on duty.
Wicked 08-19-2007, 10:42 PM I think the video was disturbing. I saw the disclaimer and opened it anyway, and I am not complaining about that. Just wanted to say that. LOL.
I also don't get what being married to a military man has to do with watching a video of someone shooting PD's . I get the parallel you are drawing between the two, I just don't follow the same train of logic. This is how I am thinking about it... I know that while my husband joined the military knowing that he may have to kill another human one day, he would have never enjoyed it. It would have haunted him until the day he died, and he would have never made a video of himself doing it or expected anyone else to find that video funny. It is not something he would have found funny, laughed at, or done if he wasn't in the position of kill or be killed. The thought of my husband possibly killing someone else is not something that was easy for me to think about, just like watching an animal die whether they are considered vermin or not is not easy for me to watch, and I am a strong woman and was a strong military spouse. KWIM?
JMO. Carry on. LOL.

Thank you that was what I was thinking but you worded it MUCh better then I did.
Daphne 08-20-2007, 12:57 AM Well I guess at this point we will all just have to agree to disagree... I can see where most of you are coming from. But its my personal opinion that I put the human race above the animal race. I dont believe in killing regular animals for fun or sport, but to kill for ford or clothing or animal control is perfectly fine to me, the way its done does not bother me. As far as us being Military woman and should be a bit stronger than that - obviously I am still not saying it the way I mean it which is okay I am not the best speaker, so just forget about that. Let me just say I am a soldiers wife, I can hear the most nastiest dirty filthy (sp?) make a trucker feel violated kind of joke and sit back and laugh about it and not get offended, thats the kind of strength I am talking about, my husband could say that he kills people for a living and I would joke right along with him about it instead run crying to my friends wondering whats wrong with him, and I can watch vermin getting killed with out whining about someone should have gave me 3 warnings, and go on and on about how it offended me, instead I can admire the power of the weapon being used...that is the strength I am talking about. Does that mean I can not see where some of you on the other side of the fence are coming from no I can respect that very much...so we will just agree to disagree :)
