What exactly did you ladies pack in your bag for the big day??? I've gotta get one together real soon and Monday I get the verdict on c-section or natural b/c of my lovely hernia... I just don't want to leave anything out. TIA

you will wanna take your own shampoo & conditioner, pj's & socks, toothbrush & toothpaste, camera, take home outfits for you and your new baby, blankets (some hospitals let you take home the one they provide). The hosp should also provide you with plenty of diapers and formula if you're not breastfeeding... and even if you are, take it just in case you have trouble. you might take a book or relaxation music for labor too. GOOD LUCK!!!:jump4joy

I packed a lot of things for the big day, and never opened the bag except to get the camera out. Take a hair brush... huge must and some lip gloss, gotta look your best for photos. You SO may want to take a cooler bag with some food and drinks, especially if you're having a natural birth, it can sometimes be long, and you won't want him to leave.

I took my own shampoo, conditioner soap. at the time they sold those kids soaps wrapped in a net. :tu socks, my feet are always cold (my toe socks were quite the rage :giggle) those ponds face cleaners, since i knew i wasn't going to always get to wash my face, and it worked great since i could hardly get out of bed. Camera, going home outfits for baby and me. a book to read incase i was stuck waiting around for hours before my c-section. probably some other things i am forgetting.

Not much honestly, I had my husband bring stuff from home if I wanted it. I had chap stick, lotion, a change of clothes, my hairbrush and toothbrush, clothes for the baby to go home in, slippers... I think that was it.

Hospital had toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.

With Madison I didn't have anything packed :lol And I was 5 weeks early but honestly I didn't really need much and had it brought to me later. I just remember being so parched and chap stick was a lifesaver.

I don't remember what exactly I took, but I remember what I almost forgot!

I had my bag packed for like 2 days. I was going over in my head what I had, when I might use it, etc. confident I had it all. I was thinking about my coming home outfit for pics when I realized, I had completely forgotten to pack anything at all for the BABY! No coming home outfit, no cute "I love my daddy" hat I'd bought for her to wear while in the hospital since DH was deployed, nothing! lol I completely freaked out and ran into her room to get it all packed ASAP. I was panicked that I had forgotten to pack for the one person the whole trip was for and had been waiting for for so long-MY new baby. I had forgotten all about her. I felt like such a bad mom and she hadn't even been born yet...

So I won't add to what you should pack, just that you shouldn't forget you'll also be packing for someone you've never packed for before-you're new little bundle of joy!

I packed lip balm, life savers, slippers, magazines, make up (for going home) hair brush, hair clip, tooth paste, deodorant, shampoo, body wash, extra underwear, nursing bras, (I wore the same outfit home that I wore there since I only wore it for a half hour the morning of) homecoming outfit for the baby, diaper for the home trip, list of telephone numbers for my husband to call everyone, camera, cell phone, breast pads because I don't use the disposable ones.

Some tips:
Don't bring your pj's when you bleed you don't want to ruin anything of yours and trust me you will leak a couple times at least.
Plan to wear maternity clothes home from the hospital. My first born I brought a pair of large gap lounge pants & a medium gap sweat shirt. I thought the large would be good because pre Darian I fit a med bottom & the large was baggy on me. I had not taken into consideration that I would still look a bit pregnant in front and my sweatshirt was to snug and the pants fit but were a bit uncomfortable on my C/S incision. So something comfy from the end of your first/beginning of your second trimester should fit nicely.

I took my own pads (although I didn't use them) tucks pads (didn't use those either since I had a CS) I bought the necessities (toothpaste, hairbrush etc) Gum, change of clothes (although I made the mistake of bringing maternity jeans.which I couldn't wear since I had a CS...if there is a chance you could have one then you need to bring roomy stretch pants or something that wont rub against your incision.) I think that is pretty much all...oh and I wish I would have brought a few nightgowns because i hated the ones the hospital provided..they had slits across the breast which was nice but it was a hassle to stay covered when people came by or I was walking around. plus they were so big that they got tangled up at night and choked me lol. oh and I forgot when I sent DH out to the store he found some maternity underwear @ walmart that he picked up for me and I loved them..they fit good and didn't rub my incision and felt ALOT better than the net ones they give you. oh and I also forgot that I packed a box of charmin fresh mates and it helped alot with the clean up.

I didn't have a bag packed yet, I wasn't expecting to have DD when I did (I had preeclampsia and DD went into distress while I was just sitting in L&D waiting for my bp to go down, so they decided to go ahead and take her then via emergency c-section). DH went home and got me pajama bottoms to wear under my hospital gowns and all my toiletries. My MIL went out and bought new clothes for DD because she was too little for the going home outfit we had bought for her (she needed preemie clothes). I can't really think of anything else, I was out of it for a couple of days anyway because of the meds they had me on for my bp.
