View Full Version : for homecoming...? rockchalkmeg 08-18-2007, 07:38 AM What do most people wear? I got a short dress but I dont know if its too dressy. What do you guys wear or planning on wearing? Miss B Hav'n 08-18-2007, 07:55 AM You will probaby see a variety that runs from one end of the spectrum to the other - I always have. I have seen everything from pajamas (hey, it was 2 am I don't really blame her, lol) to pretty formal attire. I have always gone with a skirt and nice top or a sundress for summer homecomings. Just something weather/climate appropriate and that I feel comfortable in. IF you will be outside (ie on a pier) keep wind in mind as a factor in selecting your bottom half as you don't want to have to be constantly fighting to keep it from blowing up, kwim? Laurie119 08-18-2007, 08:08 AM IF you will be outside (ie on a pier) keep wind in mind as a factor in selecting your bottom half as you don't want to have to be constantly fighting to keep it from blowing up, kwim? The one time I picked up hubby on the pier, I wore a long sundress (ankle length) that was really cute! Yeah, I saw way too many thongs and naked butts due to skirts blowing up that day. queentreev1004 08-18-2007, 08:12 AM The one time I picked up hubby on the pier, I wore a long sundress (ankle length) that was really cute! I've always had to fly to Japan for homecomings so coming off the plane I never looked the greatest.. next homecoming is in December I want to wear a nice dress but it will be cold so maybe just a nice sweater Lovingmymarine 08-18-2007, 08:37 AM Last time I wore just jeans and a cute top.. I had just had a baby and really didnt care what I looked like and neither did my hubby.. I saw some girls there in clothes that I just had to laugh about.. Come on who really wears school girl outfits everyday??? :dunno.. and then there were girls who wore sexy night gowns.. You will see EVERYTHING when you pick your man up.. lol mrsjones0520 08-18-2007, 08:48 AM I have a really cute strapless summery type of dress that I want to wear, but since I'll proabaly have to help him carry his bags, I'm probably going to wear some jeans and a cute top. He's also getting back in December, so it'll probably be raining:P MamaMia 08-18-2007, 09:01 AM Jeans and a cute top. Mine has always come in in the middle of the night. (like 3 am) rockchalkmeg 08-18-2007, 09:04 AM His ship pulls in at 6pm and then we are going to dinner so i want to wear something kinda dressy... i just dont know if what i bought is too dressy Traci 08-18-2007, 09:07 AM My fav are the women in the long coats with fishnets and spiked heels. Like we don't have an idea of what is or is not under that coat. :duh It's only 100 degrees out.:rolleyes For me it dependds on the weather but either season I never wear a dress. Mine is on a ship for the most part and it's always very windy so no dresses for me. I see way to many flying over heads.:giggle eeyore_adw 08-18-2007, 09:12 AM THis is our first homecoming (well besides R&R)... I'm wearing a short skirt (not toooooo short) and a white v-neck sleeveless sweater like top. Hubby basically picked it out, I sent pics of a couple different things I was looking at and he chose. But his homecoming is either going to be at an airport, or at a local school gym (where their going away ceremony was). tifflovezyou 08-18-2007, 09:20 AM Last time I wore just jeans and a cute top.. You will see EVERYTHING when you pick your man up.. lol :rofl Shaky 08-18-2007, 09:21 AM It all depends the weather. For our last homecoming it was too frigging cold so I wore cute boots, jeans and a cute top that you could not even see cause of the coat and scarf :giggle I say, keep it comftable, you might be standing there for hours (depending what type of homecoming) taraw226 08-18-2007, 09:24 AM i wore jeans (new and a size smaller lol), a nice sweater and heels. however, he didn't see much of it because i had to wear my winter jacket because it was freeeezing lol. (plus, they came in early so i had to rush around to get ready). one of the homecomings in WA i had won "first kiss" so i got a cute little tank dress with a little cardigan over it. like someone said...you'll see a big variety! i've seen everything from sweats to suits to some woman who i SWEAR was just wearing a trench coat :hystericlaugh fridayheather 08-18-2007, 09:35 AM I just wore nice pants and a cute top. I hate skirts anyway so I think my DH would've fallen over dead if I showed up in one. My DH's homecomings are small affairs anyway, usually just a few guys flying into a small airport. Heather 08-18-2007, 09:59 AM My husband won't be coming home with his ship. What I wear will depend on where Im picking him up. Im pretty sure he won't even notice what Im wearing anyway. He'll just want to get home and rip it off. NavyChiefs_Wife 08-18-2007, 10:04 AM you'll see people who wear shorts to people who are all dressed up. i've worn a nice summer dress and then i've worn a short jean skirt with a cute top. MelissaMc424 08-18-2007, 10:08 AM I'm a no frills girl most of the time.. so when it comes to homecoming, DD and I have coordinating shirts. We both either wear jeans or khaki shorts.. depending on the weather. I always have something new to wear for after she goes to bed though! rockchalkmeg 08-18-2007, 10:42 AM I'm a no frills girl most of the time.. so when it comes to homecoming, DD and I have coordinating shirts. Shoot, I am wearing jeans and her favorite polo shirt she likes to see me in and the cologne from London she likes me to wear. Thats it easy, right, lol. You guys have it easy when it comes to dressing... I'm sure she'll love it! They're always just so happy to be back home, they really don't care what you wear as long as you're there! Adara 08-18-2007, 11:40 AM Well, I'm not much with the dresses and skirts (hardcore tom-boy at heart, lol) But DB has expressed that he would really like it if I wore my corset to pick him up (and yes, it is one that is able to be worn in public!) So, I'm thinking some flattering ass-jeans I have, the corset and some sort of jacket to have over it, just so I don't weird too many people out. :P Honestly as long as your not flashing people, anything is almost a go. USNFFG52 08-18-2007, 11:46 AM You guys have it easy when it comes to dressing... I'm sure she'll love it! They're always just so happy to be back home, they really don't care what you wear as long as you're there! Oh yeah she will love it and yeah men have it easier but I am still a pain in the ass when it comes to getting ready cause I change my clothes a lot if I dont like it, lol. My wife at times thinks she married a woman inside a mans body, lol. You can look around and tell the ladies that went a little overboard and dressed up like they don't normally do..:hehe MelissaMc424 08-18-2007, 11:57 AM It's funny, cause you can always tell the women who NEVER wear high heels or dresses except for homecomings... they walk like chickens.. On my husbands ship the FRG is charge of the first kiss and they are giving out little entry sheets for each event you attend. Plus at each monthy meeting we can buy up to 5. They are going to fraw the name next month or october. I was really hoping to win but my husband is coming home before the ship so I do indeed get the first kiss. Just not the fun way. rcwant2be 08-18-2007, 02:32 PM the first kiss is the sailor who gets to get off the ship first, they will kiss their SO first.
