View Full Version : music during delievery
harrisonsdream 08-18-2007, 09:21 PM did you play any music either via a small portable cd player or headphones when you delievered? i'm going to try and go with just pain medication not an epi and i've been reading about how certain music can calm you down and keep you from focusing on your pain as much. so did any of y'all use it
Jennygirl 08-18-2007, 09:26 PM I think the dvd players should play a cd, ours does here and at work!
HEIDI 08-18-2007, 09:41 PM No I didn't have music played, but my Dr did sing to me during the c-section delivery of my son.... He sang "Rockin' Robin"... LOL
Daphne 08-18-2007, 10:00 PM No I didnt play any music with either of my boys...but I think its a great idea...I had both my boys with only pain medication didnt use a epidural (My 1st they gave me Demurral I dont recommend that one because it made me throw up every time they gave it ( and warned me it might so it must be a common side effect) my youngest son they gave me morphine and that was fine.
But I love the music idea! In the winter when I'm driving on the bad roads I turn it to a country station and turn it up so it calms me down. :)
leftover 08-18-2007, 10:07 PM I was screaming so loud, I don't think i could have heard music...
I DID, however, hear the Dr trying to do a LAME Steve Irwin impression to make the nurses laugh..
"Crikey! What an elusive little creature we have here.." :madwife
MichelleB 08-18-2007, 10:12 PM No, I didn't have any music. The TV was on though :lol Because I was in labor so long we watched a lot of TV waiting on me to dialate and it just never got turned off when I started pushing. :rofl
To be honest I don't think music would have mattered much. I was so focused on pushing I didn't hear much of anything going on around me. Even the doctor had to keep repeating himself and getting my attention, to which I usually responded my telling him to shutup! :lmao
CoffeeGirl 08-18-2007, 10:28 PM I did with ds & it helped TREMENDOUSLY! I played a VERY wonderful sweet calm & soft instrumental cs that I copied from my Lamaze instructor:yes
Callie 08-18-2007, 10:37 PM I didn't but I had the tv on.
Green~Mammy 08-19-2007, 01:04 AM With Darian I played Enya, The Beatles, The Ramones, and Sarah Brightman

Totally agree. I think its funny as hell to hear woman say "yeah, we had soft music and a perfect birth" :teehee Good luck :wink
More than likely the music will end up annoying the HELL out of you.
tifflovezyou 08-19-2007, 02:02 AM If there was music, it was muffled by my horriflying screams... And loud usage of profanity.
I think if a CD player would have been present, I would have picked it up and thrown it at James' head... :dunno
The doctor was making jokes and such though, if I wasnt in SOOO much pain, I would have kicked him in the chin :D
Traci 08-19-2007, 09:14 AM No, I didn't have any music. The TV was on though :lol Because I was in labor so long we watched a lot of TV waiting on me to dialate and it just never got turned off when I started pushing. :rofl

I agree. But it's worth a try. Everyone is different so the music may help.
Amber V 08-19-2007, 10:25 AM We had our oldest at Naval Hospital Balboa and back then (6 years ago) you had to bring a battery operated radio with CD's or tapes because nothing else would work and there were no TV's. So with her we did. When I had my youngest two I was a civi hospital with TV's and DVD players and fridges in both rooms. Oh and private bathrooms. I felt like I was at a nice hotel. When you go on L&D tour you will be able to find out what is available to you for your use. Good luck.
harrisonsdream 08-19-2007, 12:19 PM yeah i wouldn't want it on for the actual pushing part but the first part when i'm dialating and all that
I didn't have any music... or pain.... or an epi... but they made me take demmoral to get my blood pressure down. I was just very tired and wanted to sleep through it all. :giggle
wolfspawprint 08-20-2007, 11:20 AM No music, there wasn't any time for it. However, I was so focused on pushing that I didn't notice antything around me until it was over.
