ok first off i hope i don't make this too long winded.. or repetitive... then has anyone heard of the term fort lost in the woods? because i don't think they mean that in a "oh jolly we're going camping" sort of way :grumpy, so not only that this is our first pcs move... which means all of our furniture, boxes, etc. are in storage(i chose to stake out with my parents during training), and then just to add some icing on top of the cake he is getting less than 2 weeks of leave(wth?) and we have to move all of our sh*t and our two dogs, and ME! jobless as i will be about 12 hours... i mean does this even sound possible? i say that i am in for a RUDE awakening...:tears

Ft Leonard Wood IS fort lost in the woods literally. From what I know if that area there is not much around that base and do get use to moving every few years. Welcome to the rollercoaster that is the military.

I just got back from Ft. "lost in the woods". I didn't see a lot of the post beause I was just there for graduation. It's a really pretty place, but there isn't a whole lot around the area.
Ironically my first thought when I got there was "Great camping areas!"

I'm from Missouri so I personally don't think FLW is that bad.

Hey! I was in ms over 4th of july I have a really good friend that is stationed there. It isnt as bad as people say. Although I did come from Ft Polk and that place is HORRIBLE so ft lenardwood was great to me. There is a couple of little towns around it and about an hour away is a nice size city. You will be fine. Just be glad its not ft polk...lol

Nah, it's not bad! My hometown is an hour away, and it's the third largest city in Missouri(right after Kansas City and St. Louis) so if all else fails you can certainly get a job there! A bit of a commute but it really is pretty down there :)
