Is it normal for your db/dh to seem a little distant when they are deployed? I mean besides the obvious. I don't feel like db is trying to be distant and I've heard from others on here that it is natural for them to be a little distant at times and was just wondering if any of you have had experience with this!

first off thanks again for your message to my other post;)

Yes, I have noticed at times a significant difference in the way db acts. I think a lot probably depends on how things are going for them over there, if things are rough they might back off some and be distant...of course the opposite could happen too I bet.

At first when my db was still in kuwait we were able to talk all the time, he'd send me txts call very frequently and he was so sweet and attentive to me. He's still like that, but it definitely goes in cycles. So it's hard for me to deal with that sometimes, because he "spoiled" me early on lol. But at the same time I guess I just try to be as understanding as I can, and I'm there for him however possible which is about all I can do!

If your db isn't acting distant, I'd feel very relieved:) Although it's still tough I know. Hang in there, you're on the home stretch:hugs

Oh yes. Lol. When my DH was gone he would have periods of time where I almost hated talking to him. His life sucked there and he was so unhappy.

He is headed to Kuwait next month and I have a very good feeling things will be different now. We were rocky last deployment. This time we are happily married and expecting a baby...we are both in good places now. But, I know he will have his off days.

Which I am sure your DB is going through if he is being distant with you. He will get over it. :)

I am going through this right now! SO is miserable on the ship and is taking deployment VERY hard. He is frustrated at me b/c I go out every weekend and he claims I still have my life. I think he is just really depressed and upset at the situation. That's what you have to realize. It's not that they are upset with YOU, it's the nature of the f*****g deployment!!!!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this deployment has been much worse than the last one was for some reason. I think they emotionally shut down sometimes in order to handle the chaos where they are. It sure sucks for though doesn't it? Hang in there!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it depends on the guy..my DH is always distant right before a deployment and we get alot closer during it..lol
