More importantly, do u feel safe for ur children to be at school?

Even though they arent heavily publicized, there are still shootings accuring. I went through one in high school, and the only thing I worried about was my bro. I'm not a parent, but I was wondering how many of u are afraid when ur children go off to school?

I'm a bit uneasy this year. It is not that the school itself doesn't have good safety precautions but as a mom I worry. Last year she was in school with EEC kids and other kindergardeners. This year though she is school with kids in the 6th grade. I saw one come out Friday and he looked like he was in 8th or 9th grade. I'm a worry wart when it comes to my kids, especially when they're not with me, I guess you could say tho.

I worry yes but I'm a worrier that's just who I am. Is the school safe yes! But does that mean my crazy mom brain won't let me envision awful things happening nope..LOL

I feel very safe with the elementary we have out here - the middle school, where DD will be starting this year, though is another story. I am comfortable with the security measures in place at the middle school but the whole atmosphere there is SO different than the elementary (which is a lovely small school near our home WAY out of town - the middle school is a HUGE consolidated one in town) and there are just a lot of different elements around the middle school. I will probably be a bit of a worry wart this year.

Since my kids are going to a DOD school on base now, I actually feel they are very safe. The school is very secure, and I know the MP's patrol the grounds. That's always been one of my biggest fears that someone will come in and shoot up their school, but in hindsight, the odds of that happening are rather slim. My kids are only 9 1/2 and 5, so I don't think they even think about something like that.

I feel safe at the elementary school my children attend for the most part. Once they head off to 5th grade at the intermediate school, I am sure I will be more concerned!

My kids are 8 & 5 1/2. They feel safe!

As a high school student, I feel pretty safe. We've had a few threats (one was a bomb threat on our homecoming! >.<*) but none have been serious, just underclassmen trying to be tough. There's always a bit of worry, but I try not to let it bother me too much.

We had bomb threats too but it was cause we got to leave school...but once we had a crazed husband with a gun saying that he was going to kill all of us cause the school had fired his wife....it wasnt even my school but he wanted revenge on the whole county!..it was so scary!

I am very, very close to my best friend's kids. I have had a hand in raising all of them. And I am 100% freaked about them in school. 2 years ago their oldest was STALKED by a boy who liked her. Tried to hit her, wouldn't let her leave with her bike. It was so scary. Thankfully, she is a black belt and beat the shit out of him. Haha, so funny.

But, things like that, kids being out of control and doing stupid things frightens me. Now that I am expecting, I am wondering what it will be like when my child starts school. Seems to be getting worse every year.
