Just wondering how long your hhg's can be in the storage. We are trying to get orders to San Diego in Feb. We are going to be on a waiting list for housing.. so i will be staying w/dh's family near san diego.. and dh will be in san diego saying w/his sister that lives there. So we'd like our stuff to just stay in storage until we get housing.

But how long can it stay in storage?

Will it still be free for the movers to move our stuff from the storage to housing?

Do we have to pay anything for the storage??

Thanks!!!:D

We are in the same boat right now, but we move to San Diego in about a month. We were told that they will store our hhg for 6 months and then you can put in a special request if it is going to be longer. There is no fee for the 1st six months and it depends if you get approved for longer.

Good Luck though

90 days anymore than that you will need special permission, usually if you have a good reason they let you keep it there for a tad longer.

We've always been told 90 days as well, and the military rate we were quoted was $1.00 a day over that, if you get approved.

ok so most people say 90days.. but some say 6 months. I could of sworn someone told me 6 months before.. Hmm! I wonder!!

So i wonder if not having housing yet is a good excuse for keeping stuff in storage longer than the 90 days? $1 a day is a pretty good price :)

I know AF is when you transfer they will store you things for 90 days and then you can ask for another 90 day extention. After they, you pay. Unless the commander will make an exception or you are close to getting into housing. (i.e. one month)

:yes and it's all free! :D You just set up the delivery date and fill out a paper with the personal property office, then you're good to go!
