Why is it that pots and pans are so damn expensive? I bought one pan today without a lid and it cost me $20

I can't do this every two years

I've heard financial experts say that you should spend about 400-600 dollars and get a cookware set "for life". I have never been able to bring myself to do that and I know by now I've spent way more than that in throw away cookware:biting

oh well we didn't buy our first set 3 years ago but we bought two pans and a pot so far. I can't spend that much at this time
