Are there things you do for your kids, let them eat/drink or otherwise that your parents would not let you do/have?

I never had Nesquick when I was a kid or koolaide. Now my kids have Nesquick on occasion, but not Koolaide ( I just won't let them it's not healthy)

Are there things you do that are simalar to what your parents did for you?

If they eat their dinner they can have a dessert like icecream or a cookie. My parents always let us have that as a reward. It did no harm, none of us were overweight children. It's just a nice treat for eating all the good healthy stuff!

I seriously don't think I do a single thing like parents!

We ate junk all of the time....hot dogs, cheap mac n cheese, Kool-aid, etc.

My kids don't get that stuff! No Kool-aid for sure! Turkey hot dogs at parties or special occassions. Only homemade mac & cheese.

My parents were very unattached to us.

We are AP (attachment parenting) parents.

My parents were very pro-vaxing.

We delay & are selective.

They think it is fine to smoke around your kids.

We avoid it at all costs.

They let us watcha s much tv as we wanted.

We very rarely watch it.

Just about anything you can think of when it comes to parenting, we do differently.

My parents let us drink soda.
I do not let my kids drink soda. I hardly ever drink it so I see no reason to give it to my kids. They drink milk, juice and water right now.

That's all I can think of atm.

we were allowed junk all the time-cookies & pudding were our regular snacks
NO FRUIT anywhere ever!(Yes, I mean that!)
They both smoked like chimneys ALL the darn time
They were alcoholics:drunk

My kids are allowed junk occasionally
we don't smoke
we only drink occasionally

My parents also were NOT involved in our school functions etc & always "put us off" onto someone else:(

DH & I are so up the kids butts at school & VERY involved in everything they do at school & take them everywhere ourselves!!! They are my kids, & my responsibility-enough said!

I try not to be like them every chance I get!:yes

My parents were majorly into drugs, never watched us, spanked and screamed at the drop of a hat, fed us hodogs and coke all the time.

WE are nothing like the above AT ALL!

i'm probably more strict than my parents were on what my kids eat. there's a picture of me at two or so with a pepsi. madison is not allowed to drink pop. for a long time i didn't let her have juice either but WIC gives us so much that i needed to use some of it. it's very watered down. i tried not to let madison watch much TV. lately though i've been bad and she watches the disney movies more than she used to. with hayden though sometimes i just need a distraction for her. i don't like having the TV on all the time but my mom always had it on.

most things i do are like what my parents did. i give madison a treat if she eats all her dinner, my discipline style is much the same, etc.

I have found I do alot of things my parents did. And I do some things they dont.

I dont give Ethan juice. I just personally feel it is just too sugary and empty calories. He is given milk and water. I was given juice as a kid.

I only let Ethan watch educational TV (Baby einstein and sometimes sesame street now) but I limit it. We were allowed to watch TV as kids.

I try to limit his sweets. Rod says I am too strict but I just dont feel like E needs a ton of chocolate and what not. I try to stick to vanilla etc.

I try to sit with E for every meal but Rod either isnt home or not awake for breakfast and lunch he is usually at work for or doesnt eat. My parents always sat with us for meals.

I do everything just like my parents:

Nothing but water and only 3 glasses of milk a day
NO candy or sweets with the exception of birthdays or holidays
Snack were/are either fruit or fruit smoothies
only 1 hr of tv or internet (pbskids.org)
The rest of the time I was and she is either reading or doing puzzles or we are making crafts, playing outside, helping me cook or clean ( she loves to clean )
As a child we had EVERY MEAL at the table so we could talk about our day. Even if DH isn't home we still sit at the table for every meal and talk about how her day was.

I think my mom is a great mom. I think I turned out great and I can only hope I can do half as good as she did.

Not really, I do everything my mom used to do to me, as far as food and things. Only difference is that she used to cook more than I do.
