leasey_eastcoast 08-29-2007, 06:21 AM DB is going to be stationed there when he gets home :mumble . So I will probably be there often. I may even spend the summer there...great time to go I know! :hot
Chevy_Gurl 08-29-2007, 11:41 AM I LOVED it when we were stationed there. We lived in what used to be known as Joe Davis housing across the street from Lucky Park in SNCO housing.
I loved the sunsets, sunrises, dust storms, rain storms, the freak snow, the sounds from CAX, the drive in, the Market right there at the corner, the little chinese place down past denny's, I miss the really creepy but awfully cheap as movie place, did i mention the drive in, I miss the family pool, the playgroups, the BN we were with. I miss it all :sigh :lovestruck

:shock so they're right! it really does grow on you! :scared:lmao
we haven't made it smith's ranch yet, but hopefully soon as the weather cools down. my hubby's barber proudly displays a picture on her mirror of her yard with snow from last year. :lol i'm dreading daylight savings time coming up. the sun already rises at 6 am. fall back?!
but it is a peaceful little place... :)
Kiser'sBabe 08-29-2007, 05:58 PM OHHHHHH OMG!!! We got orders to go there this Dec. I already talked to base housing and she said good luck on getting a house we have a very mong waiting list. So we are going down early to find a rental house.

:lmao it is VERY true. You will curse it and hate it there. but once you leave you will forever wish you could go back and enjoy the small town feeling again.
Which barber shop do you guys go to? We always went to Combat barber. :lmao They weren't bad for $4 reg's. :lmao
NavySweetheart 08-29-2007, 06:44 PM not stationed there, but it's very clsoe to my home town. Yeah, I grew up in that damn area! You know Palm Springs? It's only about 30 minutes from you. That's where DH and I grew up. We love it but HATE the heat.
texasgal 08-31-2007, 03:18 AM :mumble so they raised the prices did they... theives. :lol we enjoy going to ms. pauline at aloha barber in the stater bros. shopping centre. she's a hoot! always talking and has a story, and we're usually the only ones in there. we've even converted the neighbor. she's $7, hubby likes that she uses a straight razor, though, and is pretty much the last in 29 palms to do so. and as far as the heat :nutts ...it was 108 fire&brimstone degrees and oh so humid because we were graced with 10 minutes of rain this morning. mother nature's such a tease! :lmao
texasgal 08-31-2007, 03:21 AM :D and a group of us (3 couples) are going to palm springs this weekend to Knott's Soak City! I love that there's a city within 50 miles! :woot
finally, something "unmilitary" to do!

the heat in 29 palms is typically dry heat--very dry. i haven't been through all the seasons here yet but ms. pauline, our barber, has a picture of snow on her barbershop mirror taken in her yard. so we're guessing it gets cold at some point :lol . but i get so jealous when i hear the news report temps from l.a. or san diego. dallas raines (appropriate!) will say, "down in san diego, you guys are a pretty warm 85 degrees today. l.a., a warm 78." :arg what! that same day, we'll be sitting pretty warm at 115! :rofl but like i said, we're dry (unless you count sweat :giggle ).
