Just a question! Dh is E6. We only have 1 child.

I noticed the housing there only have 3 or 4 bedrooms.

Will we be able to get housing there if we only have 1 child?

:shrug all depends on availability, wait list etc. Sometimes you can sometimes you can't.

I would doubt it. There is a fairly long wait due to it being single family homes. I know that sometimes they will let people in a 3 bedroom with 1 kid but I think thats when there isnt much of a wait. I would assume no and hope for the best. Try calling and see. We have 2 kids tho and were only offered a 3 bedroom. Nothing higher. And had a 3 bedroom not of been available they woulda stuck us on a waitlist for a 3 bedroom for housing. They looked at all housing for what we qualified for and then offered us what they had. They said if we didnt take the 3 bedroom that was available here on Miramar we'd have to go on a waitlist for a 3 bedroom

i was looking at the waiting lists.. And the admiral 3 bedrooms were only 3-4 months.. thats not too bad. Since we are also looking at NTC 2 bedrooms which has a 6-9 month wait. And maybe gateway.. but i doubt we could get a 3 bedroom there since we only have 1 child.

You can try but I really doubt they'd allow it in admiral hartman. If there were no 2 bedrooms available at all and tons of 3 bedrooms and no wait list then maybe. Tho I could be wrong. I think for the most part they like to stick to what you are entitled to

No. The thing is you cant be really picky. Well I mean you can but it'll take longer. We were wanting NTC and it wasnt available. We are in Miramar which we now love. We got it same day. Our house is awesome, the base is awesome, gotta show id to get on etc. AND they are building single family homes here which I belive go to residents first once done. I am so excited for those!! I can walk to anything here on base. My dr is here, the kids dr is here etc. So I am actually glad ntc wasnt available because I woulda missed out on this place.

When you go to housing here they will give you a hotsheet and show you properties. If you are hellbent on 1 housing area and there is a wait then you will be placed on a waitlist. Admiral hartman will probably not be an option since you do not qualify for a 3 bedroom. I know it'd be nice but the thing is when people who dont qualify fill those up it leaves those who qualify without or stuck on a list. I know they have allowed some into 4 beds in murphy canyon that were 3 bed elgible but murphy canyon is MUCH bigger.

Like I said you can call and ask but from what I was told when we got here in June and my expierence, its best to go with an open mind. And I would rule out any housing areas that are 3 bedroom and above since you have only 1 child. If you are planning on expanding your family while here you can always move into a 3 bedroom once elgible. I know they do allow that

It will definitely depend on availability. They didn't have any four bedrooms for us so one of the ladies said she wanted to check if they could get us into a 5 bedroom since they supposedly have an overabundance of 5 beds. The management said absolutely not, which was fine with us... I'd rather let someone with a big family have the five bedroom anyhow.

As far as I know, Admiral Hartman has a several month long wait list. We would have loved to be placed there but we are in murphy canyon b/c the wait list was the shortest here.

Maybe, maybe not. I got my housing the same day. So it really varies! I thought we were gonna have a long wait for anything but they offered us this when we got there and are in love with it.
