Does your college require a laptop?

Do some of your professors require you to bring laptops to class?

nope never had a prof that required it, several that encouraged it

NO but I go to a small state school. I rarely see laptops in the classrooms.

Nope not yet. It benefited me in the library and at home but not in the class.

I rarely had people in my classes bringing laptops. In grad classes it was more frequent I think.

Are you being required to bring one????? Thats pretty steep-if its not a university wide policy you might be able to fight that, or rent a laptop at the library/tech center.

They are not required, I don't even think you are allowed to have them in class

My college requires them, they don't keep a record of who gets them, but its basically expected. They started the program a few years ago. We get discounts through Dell, and full coverage for 4 years(maybe a little longer). If you can't afford one, they lend you one for the year.

Mostly all of my professors I've had required us to bring it to class. Which is a pain sometimes, especially if we don't use it a lot on a given day. Our whole campus is wireless.

its not req'd at all

i had a prof who made his ppt available for download in advance of class, so i'd take my laptop & take notes on the notes section. this was in 03, so before wireless...too bad, cuz i would have been surfing in class.

i work at a university & i see laptops in use everywhere. our campus has 2/3 wi fi coverage. actually, when i started college in 99 we were discouraged from buying laptops because they were easily stolen.

Nope. There is always at least one person with a laptop in class but they aren't required and I've never had a prof. encourage bringing them. In fact, I've had a few who discouraged it or made remarks about them being distracting. I know I'd never be able to pay attention if I had my computer with me.

i want to add that i always saw laptops in my college classes.

Nope. If they required it, I would be screwed cuz I can't afford one right now. I had to buy a Stats calculator for Math (STATS) and that was a bit over my budget..lol.. Carmen
