Just wondering at what age everyone either started potty training or plans on starting potty training??? My daughter is 22 months... we actually started potty training (with her lead as she asked to use the potty) at 13 months. She is still in pull-ups but she usually goes in the potty and not in her pants.

I was a late potty trainer, 1 and two were a little over three but it only took one day and we have never had a night time accident. my little one was just over two when my mom trained her ( actually my mom trained all of my kiddos) and she has never had any issues nor accidents.

My ODS started potty learning when he was 24 months we stopped a couple times because of the stomach flu, & he wasn't quite ready. By 2 1/2 he was fully trained day & night. I wait until the child seems ready to learn the potty. Between 2 1/2 and now almost 5 he has only had four accidents 1 day time and three night time.

It has been a fight with my son since my DH left on deployment. He was doing really well and it was like when he realized daddy wasn't coming home for awhile he refused to use it. He has just turned 3 and I'm trying to get him back into it. I'm hoping so bad it works.

I'd like to start around 2...but whenever he starts showing signs that he is ready.

I introduced the potty around 18 months, but didn't start until she was 2. We took a break though because I didn't want to push the issue since she didn't seem ready.

Well, Ethan turns 2 on Saturday. We plan to start the process after that or when we buy a potty seat. Whichever comes first. :D

We started both around 15 months with putting out the potty seat and explaining things. Madison didn't pee on the potty though until around 22 months and she was potty trained by two years old. Hayden will pee on the potty already, he has for a couple of months now around bath time. I haven't gotten him to go consistently during the day though. He's just 22 months now and I haven't been pushing at all.

I didn't answer the poll because I have two different answers. I started my son the week he turned 2 1/2. It was that simple it took 3 days and he got it. My daughter on the other hand was SO hard. At about 20 months she decided she didn't want to wear diapers anymore but she didn't want to use the potty either. It was such a struggle. It took until she was about 3 1/2 to get her fully trained.

I started potty training Breanna when she was 2. She would do well then hit a spot where she kept having accidents, then we would try again, etc. When she was 3 she finally got it and at 4 she trained herself at night.

Johnny will be 2 next month and we'll be starting on potty training him. We have had the potties out for several months just so he would be accustomed to them. He sits on them alot so he is def. not scared of them. John has even got him to go in them a couple times (no pressure, real potty training or anything. John was going to the bathroom and Johnny wanted to be in there, too, so John put him on the potty and he went). We will not do pull-ups duing the day. I used those with Breanna and it wasn't until after I stopped putting them on that I was able to potty train her.

we'll probably go with her lead but start introducing the idea at 12-18 months

We've had the potty seat out for a few months, but we're waiting until after he turns two and the baby is born before we really start pushing potty training, I don't want to make headway just for him to regress.

I started potty training my daughter when she turned 2 at the suggestion of my mom, who swears that I was potty trained by the time I was 2. Yeah right. Now my daughter is almost 3 (her bday is in November) and she is still not potty trained. She uses the potty chair most of the time, but not all the time, I've let her wear the big girl underpants a few times but we have yet to make it through an entire day without an accident. She seems to just get really wrapped up in whatever she's doing and forgets to go potty, and even if I remind her sometimes she just refuses to try it because she doesn't want to stop playing. Not to mention that for some odd reason, going poop on the potty chair seems to scare her. She's only done it successfully a few times. I would really like for her to be completely potty trained by her birthday, especially since she got bumped up to the preschool class in daycare a few months ago and she is the only kid in her group that is not potty trained (most of the kids are at least a few months older than her but still.) Any suggestions would be very welcome!

I've started, but I'm not enforcing anything yet. We have a potty chair and she sits on it and wipes. We have yet to get any pee or poop in there yet though. We talk about going and stuff like that so I think I've started the "training" portion. She'll be 2 next week.

I've heard the potty training in a day book is phenomenal. I'll probably get that and try it out sometime after she's 2.5 if we're not having any success.

both of my boys were closer to 3. It took me about a month to potty train them and then they were fine. My youngest really took to it fast and was overnight trained within 3 months.

I honestly didn't want to push or have to deal with constantly asking to go potty. I figured kids will eventually go in the potty when they are ready and didn't want to deal with alot of crying along with it.

Good luck to all. It seriously wasn't my favorite time.

When you put the regular undies on her and she has an accident do you let her sit in it for a little bit? I'm not talking for hours or anything like that just like 10 minutes or something. I did this with Breanna. We tried for a good long while and even though she would do well for awhile she would then have accidents for awhile. We went though this whole process for about 1 year and then when she was 3 I put her in regular undies with the vinyl undies over them on a Saturday. She had a accident but I let her sit in it for a little bit. We did this the whole weekend. When I took her to day care Monday she was potty trianed during the day. My hubby's best friend has a little boy who turned 2 in May and they just did the same thing. He was potty trained in 1 day. Good Luck.

My oldest potty trained at 23 months........ it took 1 day and he never had a day time accident. He had night time accidents until 11 though because of an under developed bladder. My youngest potty trained at 25 months........ he took about 3 days. ( I had to break out the baby books for this , my boys are 13 and 10 , that was a long time ago) I think if they are ready it will happen quickly.

:rofl Someone actually said 6 months. Not physically possible for them to hold it that early.

We're starting once we move into the new house next week, he'll be around 18 months. He wanted to use the potty before now, but I didnt want any relapses.

I know that there's a method where you anticipate the child's bowel movements so that you can hold them over the potty in time. Some consider that to be potty training, but IMO to potty train you have to actually be able to hold it long enough to get to the potty yourself...

Both of my boys were incredibly stubborn when it came to pting. I started around 2½ yrs. But neither of them made any real progress until after 3 yrs..
