I am not sure why but for the last few weeks my son insists on sleeping on the floor.

Everynight I put him in bed and he is on the floor when I go check on him. He has always been partial to taking his naps there too :dunno

I am not sure what I can do to get him to stay in his bed, at least for night time.

I have tried being firm about it and that does not really get me anywhere he will stay up until 12 am to get his bottom on to the floor.

I have also tried just moving him to his bed after he is out but then he wakes up very early.

Any suggestions??? Please.

Let him sleep on the floor.
other then that, is the floor carpeted? if so, maybe a couple of fuzzy blankets on the bed for him to sleep between. have you asked him why he prefers the floor?

Yeah, I say put some blankets on the floor and let him sleep there.

Yup I would just put the blankets on the floor and let him sleep there right now.. he might need a firmer mattress.

I'd just let him sleep there. It might be a phase he is going through

MY 6 yo does that several nights a week and has been doing that for a while now. I let him use his sleeping bag on the floor, as long as he is sleeping- I'm good with it.

Is your hubby gone? My 3 year old always moves to the hallway right outside my room and falls asleep on the floor there. I come upstairs to go to bed and almost trip...he only does it when his daddy leaves. I don't see any harm in it.

I have asked him but he is about a month shy of 3 and just says, "sleep on floor".

While my dh happens to be gone right now, he was doing it before dh left a couple of days ago so I do no think that is related.

His mattress is already very firm so I am not sure that is it either. hmmm.

I guess he will grow out of it eventually.

Thanks ladies. I am glad to hear that my son is not unique with his floor preference.

I say let him sleep there. If he likes it I see no problem with it.

I would just let him sleep there, give him a few soft blankets down there. It is probably just a phase

Last night I asked him where he wanted to sleep. He said his bed and rolled up in his balnket at the foot of his bed like a sausage. I think now, that maybe this a power thing. I think giving him the choice makes him feel in control of something. It made last night a lot easier anyway. Thanks again.
