View Full Version : I need reassurance...
I had my appointment on Tues. to have all my measurements and weight etc. and that was when we found out we are having a boy... well I have been getting grief from friends that I have gained so little weight. Dr. said everything looked great so I am trying to keep that in mind.
At the 21 week 5 day appt. I had gained a total of 3lbs, fundal height 21.5 centimeters, blood pressure 106 over 68. :dunno
Everything sounds good but when you get grief over your weight gain... it makes one start to wonder.
harrisonsdream 09-01-2007, 12:20 PM tell the people giving you crap to shut the hell up :hugs
the dr. knows what you need to be doing and if the dr says your fine then that's what you need to go buy. i've gained 14 lbs so far and i'm almost 26 weeks. everyone gains differently
Jennifer 09-01-2007, 12:22 PM as long as your doctor isn't concerned, it's nothing to worry about. You could always just tell a white lie and say you've asked not to know exact weight gain.
Jen113007 09-01-2007, 12:22 PM I hope this doesn't come off bitchy, but, if you had any extra weight before your pregnancy, you might not gain as much. I really hope that didn't sound bad. My friend had a baby a few years ago, she wasn't overweight by any means, but she had some extra weight and so she didn't gain as much "pregnancy weight" as people said she should have.
If you Dr. says everything is fine, then it is. Trust the professional, not other people who think they know what they are talking about. :)
Becca 09-01-2007, 12:23 PM Be proud :rofl
Seriously - if your doctor says you're good, then you're good. The experts are the ones to listen to - your friends might just be jealous :lol
patty33 09-01-2007, 01:00 PM I agree with ppl. If your doc is ok with it! Then your fine:)
Ellen 09-01-2007, 01:12 PM If your doctor isn't concerned - tell whoever to mind their own business!
*Dawn* 09-01-2007, 01:15 PM Its true listen to your dr and to be honest if you did have a hew extra pounds before thats probably why your not gaining any now. I didn't gain any when I was pregnant, and after I had Aaron I lost 12 pounds..lol so don't listen to them at all if your dr says your doing ok he knows what hes talking about...hes the one who went to school for this not your friends!
*Crystal* 09-01-2007, 01:58 PM I just had my daughter at 36 weeks and I only gained 16 pounds....they were not concerned with my gain at all!! Dont listen what people say because they will drive you nuts!!
Kiser'sBabe 09-01-2007, 02:14 PM Sounds like your doing great to me.
Cupcake 09-01-2007, 03:56 PM Oh girl.. people talk.. don't worry about it! I'm sure it's fine! If somethign was wrong they would've said so at your check up!
Callie 09-01-2007, 07:25 PM Tell the people giving you crap to kiss your ass! People are so freakin rude sometimes. I'm sorry Girl! If your doctor is saying that you are fine then you are fine!
dannysgirl004 09-01-2007, 07:27 PM Your dr knows best and if they aren't worried about it you shouldn't be either. I am 18 weeks and have gained 4 pounds. For me it doesn't seem much because I gained so much weight with me other two. my dr says as long as you are not losing you are ok. Be happy you haven't gained alot of weight. They are just jelouse!
Germanchick 09-02-2007, 03:46 PM The day I gave birth to Miss K I was a total of 2lbs above my prepregnancy weight. As long as your doc isn't worried, try not to worry about it either,
what more reassurance do you need than the fact your doctor is not worried?
good luck, girl!
I_Love_my_marine 09-02-2007, 04:48 PM I am an overweight woman and I only gain between 15 and 20 lbs with both of my pregnancies. My drs. were never upset with that. Some people dont gain a whole lot. If your doc is ok with it then it is ok!!!!
BLBnJVB3 09-02-2007, 05:17 PM If your dr. is fine with your weight gain then don't worry about it. Your friends are not your dr. Your dr. knows your medical history and has had how many years of schooling and experience. Your friends don't. When I was pg with Breanna I think I gained about you have so far. I didn't gain anything til I was 16 weeks and even that was only 1/4 of a pound. I gained 22lbs. total with her and was 40 weeks and 3 days when I delivered. I gained half my total weight gain in 4 weeks, too. That was when I was 7 months. I did the same with Evan. In 9 weeks I gained over half my total weight gain. That was between 13 weeks and 22 weeks. I delivered him at 41 weeks and 1 day and my total weight gain was 31lbs. Johnny, well, I gained 70 with him cause I didn't watch at all how much or what I was eating. I was quite known to eat almost an entire cheesecake in one sitting. It was not pretty. :giggle Also, you just had a u/s and found out you're having a boy, right? I'm not sure if you have seen your dr. since then but he/she will let you know then if he is growing fine. My babies always measure fine or even a little ahead at first. But then around 32 weeks I start measuring behind. All my kids have been 6lbs. 7ozs. to 6lbs. 10ozs. so the dr. will say I'm measuring small but then they look at my medical history and they know it is normal for me. Hence why I say listen to your dr. cause they know your medical history, not your friends.
DakotaCowgirl 09-02-2007, 05:28 PM I am overweight and I gained 7 lbs when I was pregnant. Don't worry about it. If the dr isn't worried, you don't need to be.
Also, you just had a u/s and found out you're having a boy, right? I'm not sure if you have seen your dr. since then but he/she will let you know then if he is growing fine.
Yeah the Dr. is actually who did the ultrasound and he does it at every appt. My measurements were exactly 21 weeks 5 days and I was 21 weeks 5 days. So that's all good!
BLBnJVB3 09-02-2007, 06:14 PM Ya, your dr. isn't worried and your baby is growing fine......I wouldn't worry about it. Tell your friends that your baby is growing just as he should, is good and healthy, and your dr. is happy with your weight gain. If that doesn't help and keep them from giving you grief then just ignore them. You're doing great. :)
