so at 5 am, we check into the hospital and get hooked up to all the monitors and what not... i get checked by a sweet but small handed nurse who nearly rips my cervix out checking me... i'm a 3.5... around 7am they start pitocin... spend the morning feeling pretty good (i have a very high pain tolerance) and by 1pm, they hand the pitocin all cranked and i'm starting to be uncomfortable... at the time, i'm only a 4 but ask for an epi because i figured it would take the anesthesiologist forever to get there... by 2 i feel great and the doctor comes in and checks me and breaks my water... i'm a 6... with zoe, i went from 4-9 really quickly so i told the nurse this... around 2:20 i'm feeling a lot of pressure... they check me... i'm a 9.5!! the nurse was really surprised... my mom and friends weren't there yet and i still had a tiny "lip" of a cervix so they put me on my back and we waited... i told them i felt like i could push but i wanted to wait for everyone... throughout the process i'm smiling and laughing... the nurses were highly amused... my friend, jackie, pulled a mirror from the back room because i wanted to watch the birth... finally, around 3:00, everyone's there and i go through 2 contracitons of pushing with the nurses and by my 3rd push, the nurse yells "STOP" and rush for the doctor... she comes in an 2 contractions later, ellie is out... born at 3:34 pm :) with the cord tightly wrapped around her neck but she was still normal color and once they cut it, she cried right away...
