I might be biased but I think No, Never!!! It is a sick perversion. Those people do need help I agree 100% with that but they also should not ever be around their "temptation". That keeps everyone safe.

Ok here are my two cents. My dad is actually a psycologist and he works with sex offenders and I actually asked him this question. Rapists do have the ability to be rehabilitated(this does not mean I would ever trust one) but pedophiles cannot. They can all go to their meetings and get help to control themselves but the urge will never go away. So rapists can overcome it but pedophiles do not have the ability to do so.

Therefore, I don't believe a pedophile can really be rehabilitated. Maybe he/she can avoid getting themselves involved with kids but I don't believe they can ever change being attracted to kids.

first of all for the past year and a half i have worked with juvenile male delinquents more of them then not (id say over 30 in the past year) were sex offenders JUVENILE sex offenders, rapists. i can't speak about the pedi's because i have no experience working with them, BUT the sex offenders, rapists, i feel can be rehabiliated. these are KIDS that were raping others because that was done to them. by NO MEANS am i making excuses for them or justifiying what they have done, BUT they are sick kids that need help. i think they have the right to be rehabiliated. some will go on to live normal, happy lives and be successful. MOST will stay in the system, some will re-offend as adults, and go back in the system, some will just do other petty crimes. i do think that they all need treatment and help. can you imagine how shitty it must feel to have done something like that as a child because it is considered normal to you. because your dad raped you, so you think that is what life is supposed to be like?! i can not imagine. people are SICK. these kids are sick too, and should take responsiblity for what they have done. some do, some dont, the ones that don't are the ones to watch out for because they are the ones that will re-offend as adults.

as for adult rapists and pedophiles i think that they need help and treatment, but i think it is harder for them to change. in fact i don't think that they can control their urges. it is all about a cycle. sex offenders cycle...and if they ignore their urges, and their cycles they will do it again. they are sick in their heads....

i want to say that you don't always know who is a sex offender or not. they work at mcdonalds, burger king etc. if your child is working there they could be exposed and around one. you have no idea, they don't wear a sign. i worked with them, and i was around them. not that id want my kids around them, but they are out in the community, you never ever know who somebody is. so yes i took the risk myself and worked with those kids, they are sick, they need help, if somebody doesn't take the chance on them they will never get the help they need. if my mom, sister or kids, when they grew up, wanted to work with them, id be for it. it is hard and challenging but SOMEBODY has to do it. they need help!

I'm no psychologist... but that was also my initial thought. I think it's one of those things that can be controlled with a lot of effort.... but not something that'll ever go away.

I'm definitely biased, but I'll always side with the victim on this one. Maybe rapists/pedophiles can be "rehabilitated," I don't know... but frankly, I don't think they deserve the chance.
