View Full Version : poll-weeks until positive results?
googlegirl 09-05-2007, 05:13 PM am posting poll - I'm curious to know how accurate those at home pregnancy tests are irl.
If you used a pregnancy test, how long into your pregnancy were you when you found out?
Generally, they can detect levels of hCG from 20 mIU/ml, so roughly after the first day of your missed period. False negatives are more common in the basic pregnancy tests due to misinterpretation (some people see a line which isn't there and vice versa). Digital tests are more accurate for that reason. False positives are extremely rare.
CAmom4721 09-05-2007, 05:21 PM I used a digital test but didn't take it until I was about 6 weeks. Cam was a bc baby, so I didn't even consider that I was pregnant when I started feeling sick until AF was a few weeks late.
*~*Cori*~* 09-05-2007, 05:27 PM When I found out I was pregnant in Feb, I was like 11 DPO so that is like 3.5 weeks because when I misscarried I was not quite even 5 weeks. Sometimes finding out really early is a curse...
I was around 4.5-5 weeks with my son
googlegirl 09-05-2007, 05:29 PM Oh, that's so sad- I'm so sorry!
Jen113007 09-05-2007, 05:35 PM I was only 2 weeks along when we got a VERY positive result, I hadn't even missed my period yet, it was just a feeling. I was 4 days from my period.
It was right around 4 weeks.
I was about 3 weeks from conception. I have PCOS so my periods aren't regular and I just had a feeling, very early on! I told DH 6 days after that I thought I was pregnant.
Casey 09-05-2007, 05:51 PM well, lets see. I took my first test on march 20th, 2006 (a day after my missed period) and it was negative. I took another one exactly a week later, and still negative, and another negative a week after that. We finally went to see my doc april 4th, and they did a few tests (some blood tests, and a urine test) the uring hcg came back first and it was negative. The blood work came back a little while later, and it was positive :thinking
I will never understand how that worked, but I was about 7-8ish weeks. And yet the home tests were still negative! I even took one just as a joke when I was about 6 months pregnant, and guess what! NEGATIVE! I dont get it. But my mom said that she was the same way when she was pregnant with me. None of her tests came back positive, and she found out she was 5 months pregnant at her yearly visit.
Then, when i had my m/c, I took a test about a week after my missed period, and I got a very faint positive, and took another one about 4 or 5 days later with the same results. I was about 5-6ish weeks.
harrisonsdream 09-05-2007, 06:08 PM i tested about 2 or 3 days before my period. i was due on saturday and i tested once on that wednesday and then again on like friday and got positives almost immediately
dannysgirl004 09-05-2007, 06:52 PM I tested 4 days before my period was due and got a negative. I tested again the day my period was due and got a positive so I was 4 weeks along when I found out (4 weeks since LMP and 2 weeks after conseption) This baby was planned so I new the morning I didn't start I was pregnant. I was about 6-7 weeks with my other two pregnancies.
hbeaudet 09-05-2007, 06:58 PM with my son it was one day late and with my daughter the HPT's didnt come back positive at all. the day i delivered it came back negative
Ashnbri 09-06-2007, 11:24 AM 6-9 weeks..I didn't know because I had a period after I had conceived,
rosebud* 09-06-2007, 11:26 AM i tested the day before my period was due. i just had a feeling.. with number three though it was much longer and i didn't at home test but went to the hospital to get tested since i had a period after conception
BLBnJVB3 09-06-2007, 11:29 AM I took one with Breanna right around the time I was due with AF and it came up positive right away. With Johnny I took a test 2 days before I was due with AF and it came up a big fat negative. 2 days later I took another 1 and it was a very faint positive. With Evan I took 1 2 days after I was due with AF and it came up positive before the color was done going up the boxes. I was in my 4th week with all of them.
Kaymara 09-06-2007, 11:32 AM both times I tested positive 2 days before my period was due. So 12 days post ovulation
Nicci 09-06-2007, 04:43 PM I took it the day my period was due...in my mind I was already late because my cramps start like clockwork 24 hours before...and they didn't start.
MontanaSweetie 09-06-2007, 05:20 PM I was about 4 weeks pregnant when I took the home pregnancy test.
harrisonsdream 09-06-2007, 05:33 PM i also wanted to add that i was fairly sure i was preggo because i had some different/non-pms symptoms AND i knew i was ovulating when dh and i had sex
taraw226 09-06-2007, 06:13 PM okay, we'll i'm definitely not the person to go by lol. with oldest DD i hadn't had my period in 12 weeks when i finally got a +. i had been testing for a month though and that + was SUPER faint. the nurses refused to accept that i had such an irregular cycle and INSISTED that i was 12 weeks and had to have an ultrasound that day. went for the ultrasound and the tech told me i wasn't even pregnant! (that resulted in a lot of crying). he called the lab and i WAS pregnant, but my levels were so low he estimated that i was 24-48 hours pregnant (which wasn't possible). anyway, that was a looooong pregnancy lol. i had due dates ranging from october to december. they finally picked nov. 28th and did a csection on the 21st because i had too much fluid and she was pretty big. i think she was overcooked by a week or two though.
DD #2 they thought i was around 6 weeks when i got a +, but when i went for a 20 week ultrasound i was actually only 17 weeks.
wow, could i have made that any longer? :lol
Alexis 09-06-2007, 07:27 PM I was 5 or 6wks when I found out with my first pregnancy (m/c)
I was 10wk/2d with my son (found out at the dr)
I was a little over 4wks with my 3rd pregnancy (m/c)
I was right at 4wks with my 4th and 5th pregnancies (chemical pregnancies)
I was 3w/2d with my daughter (tested 5 days before my period was due).
With my last pregnancy I was 3w/4d (tested the day of my period....m/c).
Miss B Hav'n 09-06-2007, 07:46 PM With DD I tested when I was one day late because I just knew I was pregnant (mostly because it was NOT a good time and I figured it was just my luck that I would be - I was). With DS I didn't get a positive until I was about 7 weeks pregnant even though I had been testing off and on from the first day I was late. Once I did get the positive, though, it was POSITIVE (in fact, when I went to my PCM for their confirmation test I didn't even get 10 steps away after giving the nurse my "sample" and she was like, "Don't bother going to the waiting room - the test is already showing a big POSITIVE")
farmerschyk 09-06-2007, 09:39 PM I was almost 16.5 week when I found out I was preggo with Taylor.. yeah I was shocked to say the least
I was "about" 5 weeks along when I found out with Nate
