UGH. Well, I work at a school with an autistic girl one on one as a behavior intervention assistant...and today her mom saw me for the first time since June. She says(with a snotty look on her face) "When are you due?" (Yes, the first thing she says to me! :no and I tell her "February". And then...
PAUSE....she says "I hope that doesn't mean we're losing you after that!"
UGH, C'MON you bitch, a congrats would have done just fine. My life does not revolve around your daughter and my job!!! Then she wanted to know the EXACT DAY I was due...as if it's any of her business.

Some people....:sigh:duh:wow

That's definitely not the nicest reaction, but at least they are that happy with your work that they are scared to lose you. She could have said, "oh thank god, when is your replacement coming?" :giggle

(Just trying to make you giggle... definitely don't mean to offend.)

I hope the next reaction is better!

thats terrible for her to have said that to you. After all you are trying to do for her DD. I know she is probably upset that you will be taking baby leave but she still didnt have to be rude about it and say that to you. some people just dont think do they. is she worried that her DD wont transition to a temporary replacement until you get back?

I am sorry she was rude. I think maybe her DD really likes working with you and with autism it can be hard to get children to open up to other people so she might of been dreading that shift and the behavior that her DD would use to express her displeasure. Sorry she said it in such a lousy way though!

Wow, that was rude... but then... she could have said "Oh, I'm so happy you'll be leaving...maybe your replacement will do your job better" lol... no, i'm just joking... for real tho, she probably is just upset that you'll be leaving and didn't really think about HOW she was saying what she said. Still, I wish more people would think befor they speak
