Ok so until the end of last week I was breastfeeding my 4 1/2 month old. Then we had a couple of crazy days in a row and he drank more formula than he nursed, so of course my supply started to dry up. At first I said to myself "ok guess I'm done...I'm glad I made it this long" then I started to miss nursing him during the day (he still nurses at night after he has a bottle, and sometimes to get him to go down for a nap). When I quit breastfeeding my daughter at 3 months I ended up regretting it, and I dont want that to happen this time around sense he is my last. So today I decided to start trying to build my supply back up. I know that I need to pump between feedings, and always offer him the breast before the bottle. My biggest question is for those of you who may have re lactated, is how long did it take you to build your supply back up to where it needs to be? My other concern is that we are getting ready to PCS and I know the drive and not nursing as often as I should is going to mess with my supply too (dh and I will both be driving separate vehicles so there is no way to nurse while the car is moving) so I'm worried about screwing up my supply all over again right after fixing it. It's only a 7 hr drive to where we are going, but it still worries me.

Hopefully this makes sense haha.

Fenugreek is a great and wonderful thing! Kellymom.com is a great resource. Nurse as frequently as the baby will let eat. Alternate that with pumping. And you should be taking frequent breaks when you drive cross country, so nurse the baby when you stop. (At least once every two or three hours). You'll feel dry as a bone for a couple of days, but about three days later, you'll be very full. A weekend of good, frequent nursing has jumped my supply up by a good ounce on each side. Also, lots of oatmeal and dark beer (beer after the baby goes to bed.)

All of those things should help. ANthony and I are closing in on our 5 month milestone and I don't have the world's greatest supply.
