If someone made E5 after taking the test in March, how long should it take to start getting paid for it?

Depends on where they ranked. I believe there are 3 payouts. I just don't know the exact date. When DH made rank last Sept., we got the results in Dec and paid in April.

So I think that would make March's payouts August, October and December.

i know when my DH went from E5 to E6 it took 5-6 months to start gettin paid. he said it's not a certain amount of time, from the time they get the up in rank, that is it when they 'take over the rank' there is a difference. my husband received the recoginition and was made to wear the new patches, but he didnt' officially take over the E6 position for another 5-6 months, which is when he started receiving the raise.. that is what he explained to me.. so it just depends on how fast the new E5 actually officially fills the spot. that is the way it was explained to me.. so .. it may be different.

Yeah dh said 6 months...he doesnt know where he's ranked...said its on his "papers" or whatever.

Navy.wife, I know what your talking about, dh got "frocked" in May. :) I think its 6-7 months after the test. But I am not sure, I just assumed we'd start getting it mid month sep, but its not on the LES yet. Hopefully EOM pay, it'll start.

For the past exam the pay periods are June, August, and December. We got ours in August!

It is not necessarily on the profile sheet. The only thing on the profile sheet is where you made it based on everyone else.

For others wondering there are 4 increments....one is paid the day they get to put on the advancement rank and the others are spread over the next couple months. I personally made E-6 on the march exam and got paid in September as part of the "third increment". The fourth increment would have been December or there abouts.

not all rates have increments though. I know AC's got rid of it.

but he didn't get frocked till June right ( it's been so long I forget) so the last increment is 6 months from frocking date.. :hugs
