so dh just arrived at his new duty station or whatever...they say that there is no wait for housing right now, so when he puts in our housing app tomorrow we should get a house immediately...is this possible? and when they say immediately do they mean hey heres your house and keys, move in this weekend? or are we going to have to wait a couple of weeks? aghhhh i really don't know what to expect im already packed and ready to go, so it would be nice!!! howlong does this stuff normally take?:nutts

Yep it's very possible, and has happened to a lot of people! We actually had an apartment in TX before we got there...

He and you if you're there will sign papers, get the keys, do the move in walk through and then will be able to set a date for HHG delievery. You also do not have to accept the house they offer you, but you'll be placed on a wait list unless they have several vacant units for you to choose from.

I know that with my ex, they had a handicapped house available, but if we wanted to wait for a regular split level, then we would have to wait 3 weeks. So we took the handicapped house and moved in as soon as we finished filling out the paperwork. If they have a house available, then they will let you move in as soon as you get the paperwork done. I know that DH and I were told we would have a 2 month wait before we could get a hosue on base, but we already lived together offbase and were planning on buying a house, so we didn't care. That's awesome that you got one right away!!! Good luck on the move and get us some pics asap!
