He said that he's alive obviously and he's ok. They had an extremely dangerous mission (he was finally able to tell me what happened :shock). Basically they dropped them in a really hostile area. There was alot of shooting both ways but none of our soldiers got hurt :yahoo. They ended up "detaining around 40 al queda and capturing a high valued target" so that's really good news. But I do have a question. He's not supposed to be home for another three months or so but he said they "are already doing 100% gear checks and packing". Do they normally start so early or could that possibly mean he'd be coming home sooner? I'm still slightly new to this whole military girlfriend thing. Thanks for the continuous support!!! That's great that you heard from him. They usu pack up a couple to a few months before leaving. DH has been packing like crazy to go back to the sandbox and he's due back no later than Dec...

I am so happy you heard from him! We all know you were worried so it is great to hear he is back. I have no idea about the packing thing since I am new to all of this also, it would be nice if it meant he was coming home early :)

Yes, they do start packing early. And they also do drills too. Where they have to pack up alllllllll their stuff, INCLUDING at the motor pools, and everywhere else- and set it for travel- only to unpack it all again.

But yeah- dh was packing up stuff about 3 months early.
