View Full Version : Facing first deployment
noviademilencia 09-17-2007, 12:04 AM My bf and I started dating about 3-4 months ago and in the light of his possible first deployment, it really hit me that I'm a military girlfriend, which is the translation of my username. I am not latina, but learning Spanish, so.
I'm 19, born and bred Maryland, go to college in UT, BYU!
So the weirdest thing about this deployment is that we are already separated because of my schooling. But the separation will be different when my Navy boy goes shipboard.
So, hello. I feel like I just stepped through the wardrobe into Narnia. This is a whole new world for me.
Mak327 09-17-2007, 12:08 AM I know the feeling. I'm at school in TN, and my boyfriend is from Atlanta. It took until my boyfriend left for basic for it to hit me that I was a military girlfriend too
WELCOME!!
We're all in similar situations here and ready to talk to you if you need it!
usmc_wifey85 09-17-2007, 12:09 AM Welcome to SOS!!! Everyone here is great and if there's anything you need there's always someone here to help, this place has helped me through alot and I hope it does the same for you too :)
karina 09-17-2007, 12:09 AM hello and welcome!
I'm a new military g/f as well. been dating my DB for about 5months now. ever need to talk about anything, literatly. just PM me
noviademilencia 09-17-2007, 12:11 AM so question: DB, DH???
carriejbunting 09-17-2007, 12:16 AM Gosh that is very similar to my situation. I've been through a deployment before but this time it's different; my boyfriend and I are totally in love.
We met in April and we are also already separated. I live in Houston right now and he is in San Diego preparing for his first WesPac. Being a Military Girlfriend is hard and somedays its harder, especially when he is on the Sub and can only email (which at times is rare). I plan on moving back to San Diego next year, but in the meantime.....time is going slow.
I'm glad to have found this website. :-D

SIMMYBABEZ 09-17-2007, 02:12 AM Lol @ Narnia bit, I really liked that movie.
Welcome to SOS! And yes, welcome to the world of the military SO. It's harsh, but rewarding.
I hope you like it here.
